Jesus would be far less compassionate on Governor Sanford for this BLASPHEMY than He
was on the jews who He called children of the devil!!:
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou
art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?

Comments by Steve Lefemine, dir., Columbia Christians for Life:
This proclamation by Republican Governor Mark Sanford is based on the false premise
in the founding documents included pagan, non-Christian religions.
"religion" in America in the
18th century meant "Christianity."
For a more accurate history of the many evidences of Christianity in America's history and
law both prior
to the nation's founding in July 1776, and beyond, you are invited to look at the 20-page
excerpted from Americas God and Country Encyclopedia Of Quotations, by
William J. Federer, 1994.

and other Historical Documents during over 375 Years of American History: 1606 to 1982
Excerpt from page 12:
term religion in 1787 meant the Duty which we owe our Creator, and the
discharging it,.. It was to be directed only by
Reason and Convictions, not by Force or
Violence; and therefore all Men [were] equally entitled to the free
exercise of Religion, according
to the Dictates of Conscience; and [it was] the mutual Duty of
all to practice Christian
Forbearance, Love, and Charity towards each other.
