Men School Principals in the US

Sixty seven percent of the school principals in the US are men, and twenty three percent are women.  The state to state variation in SAT Math and Verbal scores and the percent of principals who are men enables a correlation to be made between these three variables.  The data shows that, from state to state, both SAT Verbal and Math scores increase two points for each one percent increase in the percent of principals who are men.

If all principals in the US were men, both boys and girls would score 66 points higher on both tests.  As one SAT math point is equivalent to two TIMSS math points, this would have raised our averageTIMSS math score by 132 points, which would have placed the US ahead of most countries whose 12th graders participated in 12 different TIMSS subject areas.   With such a score, American 12th grade girls would have scored higher in Physics than the girls in every country but Sweden and Norway, and even higher than boys in France, Greece, Cyprus, Australia, Latvia, and Canada, rather than dead last.   They would have scored higher than all of the girls in Advanced Math, and higher than the boys in 11 other countries, with only the boys in France, Germany, Russia, and Switzerland scoring higher, rather than dead last.  They would have scored in the range of the girls in Norway, Russia, and Sweden in Mechanics, and higher than the boys in Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, and Switzerland, rather than dead last.   They would have scored higher than the girls in all 16 of the countries which took Geometry, and higher than the boys in every country but Czech Republic, France, Russia, and Switzerland, rather than dead last.

Restoring men to their rightful role as educators would not "discriminate" against girls--it would vastly improve their condition in every way.
