tumah: mongrelization, not uncleanness

Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness. Lev 18:19 (KJV)

Of 37 occurrences of the Hebrew word tumah, it's translated as uncleanness 25 times, filthiness 7 times, unclean 4 times, and uncleanness once.  But once you know that the word idol in the following Scripture is translated from the Hebrew word gullil which actually means mamzer, it becomes clear that at least one instance of this word tumah probably should have been translated as mongrelization:

Eze 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

The following is the only correct way to read this Scripture:

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your mongrelization, and from all your mamzers, will I cleanse you.

Is it at all possible that the uncleanness referred to in Leviticus 18:19 is mongrelization, and that the KJV and 19 other translators who translated tumah as her regular time, monthly period, disease, ritually unclean, menstrual impurity, menstrual uncleanness, or uncleanness are all wrong?

The most direct way to arrive at the correct answer to this question is to review the Hebrew word niddah from which put apart was translated.  From the context it's possible that the separation of a menstruous woman from the congregation of the LORD could be referred to as tumah, but the following Scripture from Eze 36:17 raises serious questions about such an assumption:

Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman. (KJVA)

`Son of man, The house of Israel are dwelling on their land, And they defile it by their way and by their doings, As the uncleanness of a separated one hath their way been before Me. (YLT)

`Son of man, The house of Israel are dwelling on their land, And they mongrelize it by their way and by their doings, As the exile of mongrelization hath their way been before Me. (actual)

Since the YLT translators didn't accept the KJV assertion that this as a reference to removed woman, and instead used the term separated one, we must question two prior assumptions:

  1. The assumption that tumah does not actually mean mongrelization.
  2. The assumption that niddah does refer to removed woman rather than separated one (of any sex), or an exile.

Zec 13:2 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

Lev 5:3 Or if he touch the uncleanness of man, whatsoever uncleanness it be that a man shall be defiled withal, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty.

Lam 1:9 Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified himself

Eze 22:15 And I will scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee.

Eze 24:11 Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.

Eze 24:13 In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.

Ezr 6:21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat,

Lev 16:16 And he shall atone for the sanctuary because of the pollutions of the sons of Israel, and because of their transgressions for all their sins. And so he shall do for the tabernacle of the congregation dwelling in the midst of their pollutions.

Lev 22:3 Tell them, 'If anyone of all your seed throughout your generations approaches the holy things, which the children of Israel make holy to Yahweh, having his uncleanness on him, that soul shall be cut off from before me. I am Yahweh.

Lev 7:20 But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that pertain unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.

Num 5:19 The priest shall cause her to swear, and shall tell the woman, 'If no man has lain with you, and if you haven't gone aside to uncleanness, being under your husband, be free from this water of bitterness that brings a curse.

2Sa 11:4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.

Surely having sex with David is not what purified or sanctified her.   As Bath-sheba was an Israelite married to a Hittite, Uriah, and as she laid with the king of Israel, the purification must have taken place before David had sex with Bath-sheba.

2Ch 29:16 And the priests went into the inner part of the house of Jehovah to clean, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of Jehovah to the court of the house of Jehovah; and the Levites received and took it out to the torrent Kidron outside

Ezr 9:11 that Thou hast commanded by the hands of thy servants the prophets, saying, The land into which ye are going to possess it, is a land of impurity, by the impurity of the people of the lands, by their abominations with which they have filled it--from mouth unto mouth--by their uncleanness

Eze 39:24 According to their uncleanness, And according to their transgressions, I have done with them, And I do hide My face from them.

Eze 36:29 And I have saved you from all your uncleannesses, And I have called unto the corn, and multiplied it, And I have put no famine upon you.
