“the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”
The Second Amendment to the US Constitution
The odds that you can pick ahead of time the ONE out of 33,300 guns will be used to murder someone NEXT YEAR are astronomically low, which is why it disgusts me that the NRA would support ANY type of background check
Since 8 guns are used for self defense for each ONE used for murder, background checks are 8 times more likely to prohibit a gun used for self defense than one used for murder
A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.
“The high office of the President has been used to foment a plot to destroy the Americans freedom, and before I leave office, I must inform the citizen of this plight.”
John F. Kennedy- Columbia University, Nov. 12, 1963
“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”
“A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 74% of American Adults continue to believe the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of an average citizen to own a gun. Only 17% disagree, while nine percent (9%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)”
Priceless: Piers Morgan Shushes John Lott
People living in neighborhoods with low gun ownership like DC, compared to people living in high gun ownership areas like North Dakota, are 9 times more likely to have their car stolen (1,449 vs. 151), 100 times more likely to be robbed (1,107 vs. 11), twice as likely to be raped (43.7 vs. 23.4), 350 times more likely to be murdered (70 vs. 0.2), 9 times more likely to be assaulted (1,442 vs. 166), and 5 times more likely to be burglarized (1,761 vs. 325).
