1. Introduction: the need for clarity of vision; literary style.

We need to be realistic about who the Jews are, if we are to enact rational
social policy in their regard. Catholics have always known who the Jews
are, until the Second Vatican Council obscured Catholic teaching with its
vague and outright false statements, in cowardly and heretical
capitulation to the Jews' open (and typically arrogant) campaign to hide
Catholic teaching about them.

"It is unfortunately true that in the Christian religious tradition the Jews
are assumed to be the accursed of God. There is no use evading the fact
or prevaricating about it. There is only one way to deal with it; it must
cease to be a fact. That judgement on the Jews must be expunged from
the Christian tradition." (Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan, Dean of the Teachers
Institute of the Jewish Theological Seminary; quoted in The Point, March

"And when they had brought the apostles, they set them before the
council: and the high priest asked them, saying, Did not we straitly
command you that you should not teach in this name? And, behold, you
have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's
blood upon us. Then Peter and the other apostles answered, and said,
We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up
Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree." (Acts 5:27-30)

I mean to bring to light some aspects of Catholic teaching and policy
regarding the Jews. I will show that they are cursed for murdering Christ,
even cursed to be outcasts and to be subjugated by the Church and the
nations; and that they are cursed to be perfidious, treacherous,
murderous and ruinous. I shall show that the theologically correct, and
socially just Catholic social policy regarding the Jews is to subjugate
them, regulate them, segregate them and expel them: in that way, they
assume their correct position and the harm they can do through their
perfidy is limited. One can easily see why the Jews would want to change
Christian teaching; but it is no more difficult to see (once it is
how it is imperative that that teaching again be understood and acted
upon by ecclesiastical and civil authorities: the welfare of humanity
depends upon it.

I shall show that this is Catholic teaching (and therefore true) by showing
that the Church has always taught it. Our Faith is the truth revealed by
God once and for all, handed on in its entirety from the Apostles and
believed by all the Faithful (generally speaking) in all ages; as such, it
never change at all. The political truths about the Jews are present in the
Bible, in what it explicitly declares and in its typology, when it is
understood according to the teaching of the perennial Church. And these
same truths have been taught in all ages, in the writings of the popes, the
fathers (early Church theologians), the doctors (outstanding teachers
approved by the Church) and the saints; they are also exhibited by Church
policy, historical events and by present reality. I have presented my
"proof texts" and findings (the perennial teaching of the Church as
deposited in the writings of past Catholics) in a catena. A catena (Latin
for chain) is an ancient format used by Catholic authors, whereby many
passages from divers writers are consecutively presented in such a
manner as to be linked in matter and import, so as to exhibit and develop
a theme. The present literary work is only secondarily mine: it is that of
the perennial Church herself who professes and practices her Faith
through her children. Above all, it is God's work: it is His story, His
teaching and His doing, told largely in His words and His style, at His
command and example and through His grace. We are only passing on
what God has said and done, through the Bible and His Church, and what
He continues to do and to will. To Him be the glory; amen.

2. The Jews corporately murdered Christ.

We shall first establish that the Jews as a people murdered Christ, as that
is the necessary foundation for a theological insight into the Jewish
condition, and into correct social policy toward them. Soon, we shall
explore how they are corporately responsible for the crucifixion; and after
we shall see the awful effects of their crime.

It is recorded in both the Old and the New Testaments that the Jews
corporately murdered Christ, God the Son. The crucifixion is a collectively
perpetrated act: it pertains to "all the House of Israel" without exception
or distinction:

"Therefore, let all the House of Israel know assuredly, that God hath
made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ."
(Acts 2:36)

"Be it known unto you all, even to all the people of Israel, that by the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised
from the dead, even by him doth this man stand before you whole." (Acts

"And I will pour upon the House of David, even upon the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look
upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one
mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that
is in bitterness for his firstborn." (Zacharias 12:10)

"And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel,
[...] Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and denied in the presence of Pilate,
when he was determined to let him go. But ye denied the Holy One and
the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; and killed the
Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are
witnesses." (Acts 3:12-15)

"And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the
Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree." (Acts

Hence, the Bible teaches repeatedly that the Jews collectively killed
Christ; only through conversion to Catholicism can they begin to free
themselves from their awful heritage. The Fathers of the Church handed
on that apostolic teaching in many of their writings; I will quote here only
a few.

Pope Saint Clement I of Rome (A. D. 100): "Wherefore there is not the
least doubt concerning Christ; and all the unbelieving Jews are stirred up
with boundless rage against us, fearing lest haply He against whom they
have sinned should be He. And their fear grows all the greater, because
they know that, as soon as they fixed Him on the cross, the whole world
showed sympathy with Him; and that His body, although they guarded it
with strict care, could nowhere be found; and that innumerable
multitudes are attaching themselves to His faith." (Recognitions of
Clement LIII)

Saint Clement was writing decades after the crucifixion, yet he attributed
the act to "all" the unbelieving Jews then alive without distinction:
"against whom they have sinned".

Lactantius (A. D. 330): "Afterward they had tetrarchs until the time of
Herod, who was in the reign of Tiberius Caesar; in whose fifteenth year, in
the consulship of the two Gemini, on the 23rd of March, the Jews
crucified Christ." (Divine Institutes IV:10)

Saint Ephrem Syrius, Doctor (A. D. 373): "The Jews, therefore, not only
made themselves strangers to the covenants, but also dishonoured the
Father and killed the Son in envy."

But in case any should say that it was the Romans and not the Jews who
killed Christ, even in the face of the preceding passages from Scripture
and the Fathers, (for some liberal heretics would insolently so do, though
there is little one can do for their sort) let them listen to Saint
Doctor of the Church (A. D. 430):

"Had you become so hardened, false Israelites? Were you by your
excessive malice so lost to all sense, as to imagine that you were
unpolluted by the blood of the innocent, because you gave it up to be
shed by another? was even Pilate himself going to slay him with his own
hands, when made over by you into his power for the very purpose? If you
did not wish Him to be slain; if you did not lay snares for Him; if you did
not get Him to be betrayed to you for money; if you did not lay hands upon
Him and bind Him, and bring Him there; if you did not with your own
hands present Him, and with your voices demand Him to be slain, - then
boast that He was not put to death by you. But if in addition to all these
former deeds of yours, you also cried out, "Crucify, crucify him;" then
hear what it is against you that the prophet proclaims: "the sons of men,
whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword."
[Psalm 56:4] [...] And so all who cried out with impious voices for the
crucifixion of Christ slew Him, not, indeed, directly with their own hands,
but personally through him who was compelled to such a crime by their
clamour. [...] They were implicated in the crime from which they tried to
hold themselves aloof; for Pilate would have done no such thing, save to
implement what he perceived to be their fixed desire." (On the Gospel of
Saint John 114, 115)

"For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and
their doings are against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of his glory."
(Isaias 3:8)

Saint Augustine: "Let not the Jews say, We have not crucified Christ. For
to this end they gave Him to Pilate the judge, in order that they
themselves might seem as if they were guiltless of His death. For when
Pilate said to them: Kill him yourselves, they answered: It is not lawful
us to kill any man. The wickedness of their crime they wished to cast back
upon a human judge: but did they deceive the judge who is God? With
regard to what Pilate did, in the very fact that he did it, he was in some
way an accomplice: but far more innocent was he than they. For he strove
as far as he could to deliver him out of their hands; for this end he
scourged him, and led him forth to them. He did not scourge the Lord to
be cruel, but wishing to satisfy their fury, that even so they might at
be appeased, and might cease to wish to kill him whom they had seen
scourged. And so he did this. But when they persisted, you know that he
washed his hands and said, that he himself did not do it, that he was
innocent of the death of that man. He did it, nevertheless. But if he is
guilty because he did it against his will, are they innocent who compelled
him to do it? By no means. But he gave sentence against him, and
commanded him to be crucified: and in a manner himself killed him; you
also, O you Jews, killed him. Whence did you kill Him? With the sword of
the tongue: for ye did whet your tongues. And when did ye smite, except
when ye cried out, "Crucify, crucify"? [...] This is the whole of the Jews
sagacity, this is that which they sought as some great matter. Let us kill
and let us not kill: so let us kill, as that we may not ourselves be judged
have killed." (On the Psalms 63:4,5; Roman Breviary, Matins of Good

Hence, we see that the Jews were scheming to deceive even as they
murdered Christ, and would try to hide their responsibility by using Pilate;
their deceit, and that of their lackeys, thus extends to this day. "I did
kill him; it was the gun: I only pointed it and pulled the trigger. The
did it; not me." Such is the blasphemous logic of men who would
contradict Catholic teaching to flatter the Jews. But Pilate and the
Romans were merely an instrument of Jewish aggression, even as a gun is
an instrument that a man may use to kill: the one who employs the
instrument is guilty of its use; the Jews killed Christ. The Fathers of the
Church had no time for Jewish deceit:

Saint John Chrysostom, Doctor of the Church (A. D. 407): "What could be
more grievous than these things? What more insulting? For the things
that were done go beyond all language. For as though they were afraid
lest they should seem to fall short at all in the crime, having killed the
prophets with their own hands, but this man with the sentence of a judge,
so they do in every deed; and make it the work of their own hands, and
condemn and sentence both among themselves and before Pilate,
saying: "His blood be on us and on our children," and insult Him, and do
despite unto Him themselves, binding Him, leading Him away, and render
themselves authors of the spiteful acts done by the soldiers, and nail Him
to the cross, and revile Him, and spit at Him, and deride Him. For Pilate
contributed nothing in this matter, but they themselves did everything,
becoming accusers, and judges, and executioners, and all." (On the
Gospel of Saint Matthew 87)

Saint Thomas Aquinas (A. D. 1274): "The evangelist might justly have
attributed the whole to the Jews, who were really the authors of what they
procured to be done." (quoting Saint Augustine; Catena Aurea, John

"Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them. But they
cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. And he said unto them the third
time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him:
I will therefore chasten him, and let him go. And they were instant with
loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them
and of the chief priests prevailed. [.] Then cried all the people, and said,
His blood be on us, and on our children." (Saint Luke 23:20-22; Saint
Matthew 27:25)

"Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth [...] you, by the
hands of wicked men have crucified and slain." (Acts 2:22-23)

Saint Augustine: "The Jews hold Him, the Jews insult Him, the Jews bind
Him, crown Him with thorns, dishonour Him with spitting, scourge Him,
overwhelm Him with revilings, hang Him upon the tree, pierce Him with a
spear, last of all bury Him. He was at it were left: but by whom? By those
insulting ones." (On the Creed 10)

Saint Bridget of Sweeden (A. D. 1373): "O Jesus! Creator of Heaven and
earth whom nothing can encompass or limit, Thou who dost enfold and
hold all under Thy loving power, remember the very bitter pain Thou didst
suffer when the Jews nailed Thy sacred hands and feet to the cross by
blow after blow with big blunt nails, and not finding Thee in a pitiable
enough state to satisfy their rage, they enlarged Thy wounds, and added
pain to pain, and with indescribable cruelty stretched Thy body on the
cross, pulled Thee from all sides, thus dislocating Thy limbs." (Prayers
given to her by Our Lord)

3. The Jews all bear the guilt of the murder of Christ.

So, the Jews corporately killed Christ; hence all Jews bear the guilt of his
murder. Let us again hear the voice of tradition. Saint Augustine tells us
that the Jews "through their fathers" killed Christ, that their fathers are
the instrumental cause of their guiltiness; thus all Jews, even those alive
today, mistreated Christ and so "bear the guilt." Thus it is that they
corporately murdered him.

"Judaism, since Christ, is a corruption; indeed, Judas is the image of the
Jewish people: their understanding of Scripture is carnal; they bear the
guilt for the death of the Saviour, for through their fathers they have

We may understand this by a comparison with the original sin. Adam and
Eve sinned in the garden, and therein we all sinned, too, "in Adam":

"By one man sin entered into this world, (and by sin death, and so death
passed upon all men,) in whom all have sinned." (Romans 5:12)

So, "in" Adam, "all have sinned": in him, all (except Our Lord and Our
Immaculate Lady) rebelled and disobeyed in the Garden. We all
committed the original sin "in" Adam: we did it and brought about this
vale of tears from which we send up our sighs to Our Lady, mourning and
weeping, poor banished children of Eve:

"Blessed the man whose help is from Thee: he has ordered upward steps
in his heart, in the valley of tears, in the place which he has made."
(Psalm 83:6-7)

All are yet born with the guilt of Adam's sin, which guilt is sufficient for
their damnation unless it is removed through baptismal regeneration:
original sin is in them "as their own", as was defined ex cathedra at the
Council of Trent (A. D. 1563):

"If any one asserts that this sin of Adam, which is one in origin and
transmitted to all [and] is in each one as his own by propagation, not by
imitation, is taken away either by [...] For, as indeed, men would not be
born unjust, if they were not born through propagation of the seed of
Adam, since by that propagation they contract through him, in
conception, injustice as their own, so unless they were born again in
Christ [...]" (Denzinger 790, 795)

"Behold, I was conceived in iniquities; and in sin did my mother conceive
me." (Psalm 50:7)

And so it is with the Jews: even as we sinned "in Adam" and inherited his
guilt, even so the Jews "through their fathers", "through" and "in"
Judas and the rest, mistreated and murdered Our Lord. As we see in the
traditional Good Friday liturgy, every unconverted Jew betrayed Christ to
the chief priests with a kiss, "through" his father Judas (Saint Matthew
26:49-50), and then crucified him on the cross:

"O my people, what have I done to you; wherein have I offended you?
Answer me. I led you out of Egypt and drowned Pharao in the Red Sea;
and you have betrayed me to the chief priests. [...] I have exalted you with
great strength; and you have hung me on the gibbet of the cross." (Good
Friday Reproaches; Maryknoll Missal, 1960, p. 355)

Saint Jerome: "Judas betrayed Me, the Jews persecuted and crucified
Me. [...] In particular, this is the story of Judas; in general it is that
of the
Jews. [.] Judas is cursed, that in Judas the Jews may be accursed."

"Bloody men, in whose hands are iniquities; their right hands are full of
bribes." (Psalm 25)

Saint John Chrysostom: "Here [in the local synagogue] the slayers of
Christ gather together, here the cross is driven out, here God is
blasphemed, here the Father is ignored, here the Son is outraged, here
the grace of the Spirit is rejected. Does not greater harm come from this
place since the Jews themselves are demons?" (First Homily Against the

They are Christ's killers, every one of them. They have inherited the
responsibility and guilt of Judas' acts, as well as of those of the others
the crucifixion.

Saint Gregory of Nyssa: "The Jews are murderers of the Lord. [.] They are
guilty of shouting: "Away with him, away with him! Crucify him!" He who
was God in the flesh!" (Oration on the Resurrection of Christ)

Saint Cyprian (A. D. 258) tells us that they are a "sinful nation, a people
weighed down with guilt" as they "cruelly executed" Christ:

"Nor is it sufficient that we call Him who is in Heaven "Father." We must
add to the name "Our Father." This name rebukes and condemns the
Jews who not only spurned Christ faithlessly, but also cruelly executed
Him Who was announced to them by the prophets, and sent first to their
nation. No longer may they call God their Father, because the Lord
confounds and refutes them, saying: "your father is the devil" [Saint
John 8:44]. O sinful nation, O people weighed down with guilt, breed of
evil-doers, lawless children, you have turned your backs on the Lord and
have provoked the Holy One of Israel." (The Lord's Prayer)

Saint Basil, Doctor (A. D. 379) tell us that the Jews are for all ages,
"stained with the blood of Christ":

"If someone should kill the beloved son of a man, and then stretch forth
their hands still stained with blood to the afflicted father, asking for
fellowship, would not the blood of his son, still visible on the hand of his
murderer, provoke him to just anger instead? And such are the prayers of
the Jews, for when they stretch forth their hands in prayer, they only
remind God-the-Father of their sin against His Son. And at every
stretching-forth of their hands, they only make it obvious that they are
stained with the blood of Christ. [.] For they cried out: "His blood be
upon us, and upon our children."" (On Prayer)

"Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers,
children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, and have
provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger. [.] From the sole of the foot
even unto the head there is no soundness in Him. [.] And when ye
spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye
make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood." (Isaias
1:4, 6, 15)

As the Jews have the guilt of Christ's murder, they will be eternally
punished for it after death, unless they convert to the Faith and are
baptised into the Catholic Church:

Saint Cyprian: "By this alone the Jews can receive pardon of their sins, if
they wash away the blood of Christ slain, in His baptism, and, passing
over into His Church, obey His precepts. In Isaiah the Lord says: "Now I
will not release your sins. When ye stretch forth your hands, I will turn
away my face from you; and if ye multiply prayers, I will not hear you: for
your hands are full of blood."" (Against the Jews)

"Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth [...] you, by the
hands of wicked men have crucified and slain. [...] Jesus whom you have
crucified. Now when they heard these things, they had compunction in
their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles: What then
shall we do men and brethren? But Peter said to them: Do penance and
be baptized every one of you. [...] They therefore that received his word
were baptized: and there were added in that day about three thousand
souls. [...] And the Lord added to the Church daily such as should be
saved." (Acts 2:22-23, 36-38, 41, 47)

Origen (A. D. 253): "On account of their unbelief, and the other insults
which they heaped upon Jesus, the Jews will [...] suffer more than others
in that judgement which is believed to be impending over the world."
(Against Celsus 2:8)

Saint Amphilocius of Iconium (A. D. 400): "It may be that the Jews,
looking for another Christ, will laugh at our wisdom; for of them the
prophet has rightly said: "Their sepulchres shall be their houses forever"
[Psalm 48:12]. They laugh now, but they shall weep, for they shall weep
when they look upon Him "Whom they have pierced." [Zacharias
12:10]" (Oration 5)

4. The Jews are all cursed for their deicide.

So, the Jews have the guilt of their deicide; they are now collectively
cursed therefore, as the Church has always held and taught:

Pope Clement VIII (A. D. 1605): "The Bible itself says that the Jews are an
accursed people."

The Jews themselves called out for such a curse. Pilate said that he was
innocent of Christ's blood and that the Jews would have to "see to it"
themselves; it was their will that Christ should be murdered, and it would
have to be their doing and their responsibility. The Jews eagerly asserted
that it would be so, and invoked the curse upon themselves and their

"I am innocent of the blood of this just person, see ye to it. Then
answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our
children. Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had
scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified." (Saint Matthew 27:24-

Saint Thomas Aquinas, the Angelic Doctor of the Universal Church wrote,
following Saint Jerome, Doctor (A. D. 420):

"Pilate took water in accordance with that, I will wash my hands in
innocency, [Psalm 25:6], in a manner testifying and saying, I indeed have
sought to deliver this innocent man, but since a tumult is rising, and the
charge of treason to Ceasar is urged against me, I am innocent of the
blood of this just man. The judge who is thus compelled to give sentence
against the Lord, does not convict the accused, but the accusers,
pronouncing innocent Him who is to be crucified. See ye to it, as though
he had said, I am the law's minister, it is your voice that has shed this
blood. Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us and on
our children. This imprecation rests at the present day upon the Jews: the
Lord's blood is not removed from them." (Catena Aurea, ad loc.)

Saint Alphonsus Maria Liguori (A. D. 1787), Doctor of the Church, wrote
of it thus:

"Poor Jews! You invoked a dreadful curse upon your own heads in saying:
"His blood be on us and on our children"; and that curse, miserable
race, you carry upon you to this day, and to the end of time you shall
endure the chastisement of that innocent blood." (The Passion and
Death of Jesus Christ)

Saint Aphrahat (A. D. 345): "The blood of Mordecai was required at the
hand of Haman and his sons; and the blood of Jesus, His persecutors
took upon themselves and upon their children." (Of Persecution 20)

"Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews
are in Shushan to do tomorrow also according unto this day's decree, and
let Haman's ten son's be hanged upon the gallows. And the king
commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and
they hanged Haman's ten sons." (Esther 9:13-14)

"But when they came to Jesus, and saw that He was dead already, they
broke not his legs. But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side,
and forthwith their came out blood and water." (Saint John 19:34)

Saint Cyril of Jerusalem: "This was perhaps on account of the two
speeches, his who judged Him, and theirs who cried out against Him; or
because of the believers and the unbelievers. For Pilate said, I am
innocent, and washed his hands in water; they who cried out against Him
said, His blood be upon us: there came therefore these two out of His
side; the water, perhaps, for him who judged Him; but for those who
shouted against Him, the blood. And again, it is to be understood in
another way; the blood for the Jews, and the water for the Christians: for
upon them as plotters came the condemnation from the blood; but to
thee now who believest, the salvation which is by water [baptism]. For
nothing has been done without a meaning." (Catechetical Lectures

"And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you:
yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of
blood." (Isaias 1:4, 6, 15)

Moreover, the Jews have "all the righteous blood shed upon the earth"
on their heads, including that of the prophets, Christ, and all the
Christians whom they have ever persecuted, wherefore their guilt grows
ever greater in each generation:

"Wherefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the sons of
them that killed the prophets. [.] Therefore behold I send to you
prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you will put to
death and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues, and
persecute from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous
blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the
blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple
and the altar." (Saint Matthew 23:31, 34-35)

Blessed Rabanus Maurus (A. D. 856): ""That upon you may come all the
righteous blood." That is, all the vengeance due for the shedding of the
blood of the righteous." (Saint Thomas Aquinas, Catena Aurea, ad loc.)

Remigius of Auxerre (A. D. 908): "It should be enquired too how He says,
to the blood of Zacharias, since the blood of many more saints was
afterwards shed. This is thus explained. Abel a keeper of sheep was killed
in the field, Zacharias a priest was slain in the court of the temple. The
Lord therefore names these two, because by these all holy martyrs are
denoted, both of lay and priestly order." (Catena Aurea, ad loc.)

"For ye, brethren, have become followers of the churches of God which in
Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your
own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: who both killed the Lord
Jesus Christ, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they
please not God, and are adversaries to all men: (forbidding us to speak to
the gentiles that they might be saved!) to fill up their sins always: for
wrath is come upon them to the uttermost [in finem]." (I Thessalonians

Tertullian: "Though Israel may wash all its members every day, it is never
clean. Its hands [.] are always stained, covered forever with the blood of
the prophets and of our Lord himself." (Oration)

The Bible teaches elsewhere too, that the Jews are cursed as they
corporately and individually bear the guilt of the crucifixion. Moses (circa
1190 B. C.) prophesied that the Jews would be severely cursed when they
turned from God; who would doubt from this that they would be cursed
for murdering Christ, and that the passage applies principally to that?

"But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not harken unto the voice of the
Lord thy God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes
which I command you this day; that all the curses shall come upon thee,
and overtake thee: cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou
be in the field. Cursed shalt thou be in thy basket and thy store. Cursed
shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of
kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest
in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out. &c." (Deuteronomy

And indeed, this passage has many times been applied to them
corporately, such as by Saint Agobard (A. D. 840):

"Jews are cursed and covered with malediction as by a cloak. The curse
has penetrated them like water in their bowels and oil in their bones.
They are cursed in the city and cursed in the country, cursed in their
coming in and in their going out. Cursed are the fruits of their loins, of
their lands, of their flocks; cursed are their cellars, their granaries,
shops, their food, the very crumbs off their tables."

And there is also prophesy in the Psalms written by King David (1015 B.
C.), which clearly foretells such a pervading curse upon the Jews due to
the crucifixion. We shall see this following Psalm a lot; indeed, it may be
taken as a summary of this tract, and the tract an exegesis thereof:

"Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked
for someone to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I
found none. They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they
gave me vinegar to drink. Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and
a stumbling block, and a recompense unto them: let their eyes be
darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always. Pour
out thine anger upon them, and let the wrath of thine anger take hold of
them. Let their habitation be desolate: and let none dwell in their tents.
For they persecuted him whom thou hast smitten; and they have added to
the grief of my wounds. Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not
come into thy righteousness. Let them be blotted out of the book of the
living, and not be written with the righteous." (Psalm 68:20-8)

Of course, it was the Jews who gave Christ "gall for meat and vinegar to
drink", in being corporately responsible, as we have seen, for the
occurrences at the crucifixion; indeed, in the traditional Good Friday
Reproaches, it is said: "I gave you the water of salvation from the rock to
drink [Numbers 20]; and you have given me gall and vinegar." They broke
his heart with their perfidy.

"And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a
place of the skull, they gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and
when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink. [...] When Jesus therefore
had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head,
and gave up the ghost." (Saint Matthew 27:34; Saint John 19:30)

The Apostle showed that the Psalm, and the curse, applies to the Jews:

"What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the
election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (according as it is
written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should
not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. And David
saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block,
and a recompense unto them: let their eyes be darkened, that they may
not see, and bow down their back alway." (Romans 11:7-10)

And indeed, Christ cursed the Jews corporately, in the figure of the fig-

"And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might
find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but
leaves; for the time of figs was not. And Jesus answered and said unto it,
No man eat fruit of thee hereafter forever. [...] And in the morning, as
passed by, they saw the fig-tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling
to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou
cursest is withered away." (Saint Mark 11:13-14, 21-2)

We have here the vineyard type of parable - though one enacted - in
which the Jewish nation is collectively represented under the figure of a
single plant; let us hear the first Doctor of the Church, Saint Athanasius
(A. D. 373):

"But Israel despised and would not render, for their will was not right,
nay moreover they killed those that were sent, and not even before the
Lord of the vineyard were they ashamed, but even He was slain by them.
Verily, when he came and found no fruit in them, he cursed them through
the fig-tree, saying, "Let there be henceforth no fruit from thee;" and the
fig-tree was dead and fruitless, so that even the disciples wondered when
it withered away.

"Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by the prophet; "I will take
away from them the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of
the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the scent of myrrh, and the
light of a lamp, and the whole land shall be destroyed." [Jeremiah 25:10]
For the whole service of the law has been abolished from them, and
henceforth and forever they remain without a feast. And they observe not
the Passover; for how can they? They have no abiding place, but they
wander everywhere. [...] But in every place they transgress the law, and as
the judgements of God require; they keep days of grief instead of
gladness. Now the cause of this to them was the slaying of the Lord, and
that they did not reverence the Only-Begotten. [...] Therefore the Lord
cursed them under the figure of the fig-tree." (Letter 6, Easter 334)

And there, the Doctor draws our attention to that the Jews are cursed
partly in that it became impossible for them to fulfil their obligations
when the temple was destroyed; really, they need to leave off being Jews,
and embrace Christ, the Fulfilment of the Law and the Prophets. The
Apostle indicated the same, as was recognized by the Fathers (eg. Saint
Augustine, Reply to Faustinus the Manichaean XII:11, and the
anonymous Constitutions of the Holy Apostles VI:25, both quoted below

"For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is
written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are
written in the book of the law to do them. [...] For I testify again to
man circumcising himself, that he is a debtor to do the whole law."
(Galatians 3:10; 5:3)

So, we see that the Bible teaches that the Jews are cursed for the
crucifixion, when it is read in the light of traditional teaching, as it

Blessed Juliana of Norwich (A. D. 1423): "I knew in my faith that the Jews
were accursed and condemned without end, except those who were
converted." (Sixteen Revelations of Divine Love)

5. The Jews are cursed with the curse of Cain, to perpetually be outcasts.

We have established that all Jews are guilty of Christ's death, and are
cursed therefore. It now behoves us to begin to focus our attention on
how that curse has affected their condition, and how it informs us as to
the correct social policy toward them. The Jews have the curse of
fratricidal Cain, who is their figure:

Saint Augustine: "Only when a Jew comes over to Christ, he is no longer
Cain, nor goes out from the presence of God, nor dwells in the land of
Nod, which is said to mean commotion." (Reply to Faustus the
Manichaean XII:13)

Tertullian (A. D. 220): "From the beginning the earthly sacrifices were
foreshown, in the person of Cain, to be those of the "elder son," that is,
of Israel." (A Reply to the Jews 5)

The type of Cain affords us much illustration as to Jewish reality, as he is
a metaphor of them (as well as being an historically actual person.) Let
us introduce the narrative of his curse, and then we shall begin to see
how the Fathers applied it to the Jews.

"And in the process of time, it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit
of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought the
firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect
Abel and to his offering: but unto Cain and unto his offering he had not
respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. [...] And Cain
talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the
field, that Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and killed him."
(Genesis 4:3-5, 8)

Plainly, Abel is the type of Christ - and homicidal Cain of the Jews.

Saint Augustine: "Abel, the younger brother, is killed by the elder brother;
Christ the head of the younger people, is killed by the elder people of the
Jews. Abel dies in the field; Christ dies on Calvary.

"God asks Cain where his brother is, not as if He did not know, but as a
judge asks a guilty criminal. Cain replies that he knows not, and that he is
not his brother's keeper. And what answer can the Jews give at this day,
when we ask them with the voice of God, that is, of the Sacred Scriptures,
about Christ, except that they do not know the Christ we speak of? Cain's
ignorance was pretended, and the Jews are deceived in their refusal of
Christ. [...] Then God says to Cain, "What hast thou done? The voice of
thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground." So the voice of God
in the Holy Scriptures accuses the Jews. For the blood of Christ has a loud
voice on the earth, when the responsive Amen of those who believe in
Him comes from all nations. This is the voice of Christ's blood, because
the clear voice of the Faithful redeemed by His blood is the voice of the
blood itself.

"Then God says to Cain: "Thou art cursed from the earth, which hath
opened its mouth to receive thy brother's blood at thy hand." [...] So the
unbelieving people of the Jews is cursed from the earth, that is, from the
Church, which in the confession of sins has opened its mouth to receive
the blood shed for the remission of sins by the hand of the people who
would not be under grace, but under the law. And this murderer is cursed
by the Church; that is, the Church admits and avows the curse
pronounced by the Apostle: "Whoever are of the works of the law are
under the curse of the law."" (Reply to Faustinus the Manichaean XII:10-

Just as Cain was cursed, typologically "so the unbelieving people of the
Jews is cursed", "this murderer".

Saint Irenaeus (A. D. 202): "For at the beginning, God had respect to the
gifts of Abel, because he offered with single-mindedness and
righteousness; but he had no respect unto the offering of Cain, because
his heart was divided with envy and malice, which he cherished against
his brother, as God says, when reproving his hidden thoughts: "Though
thou offerest rightly, yet, if thou dost not divide rightly, hast thou not
sinned? Be at rest." [...] For while they were thought to offer correctly so
far as the outward appearance went, they had in themselves jealousy like
unto Cain; therefore they slew the Just One, slighting the counsel of the
Word, as did Cain." (Against the Heresies IV:18)

There is a number of parallels between Cain and the Jews. The envious
murder by Cain was all the more grievous because it was of his own
brother; even so, the Jews killed their own, even their own kinsman and
own God who had done so much for them, and their own rightful king:
"He came unto His own, but His own received Him not." (Saint John
1:11) The Jews were jealous that He is the Christ: as in the parable of the
vineyard where they said: "come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his
inheritance." (Saint Matthew 21:38). They wanted what He had, and
were jealous. And what did He have? He had the dignity of being the
Christ, of offering atonement for the sins of the world. In effect, they
jealous of His Sacrifice, like Cain was jealous of Abel's sacrifice; and out
of this jealousy they killed, "as did Cain": "For he knew that for envy they
had delivered him." (Saint Matthew 27:18)

And like Cain is a figure of the Jews in their murderous crime and their
guilt, he is also their figure in their punishment. Cain was to be a
perpetual outcast for his murder, "driven out", "a fugitive and a

"And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth
to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand. When thou tillest the
ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and
a vagabond shalt thou be on the earth. And Cain said unto the Lord, My
punishment is greater than I can bear. Behold thou hast driven me out
this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I
shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth." (Genesis 4:11-14)

So it is with the Jews: like Cain, "henceforth" and forever the
unconverted Jews are cursed to be outcasts for their deicide:

Saint Augustine: "Only when a Jew comes over to Christ, he is no longer
Cain, nor goes out from the presence of God, nor dwells in the land of
Nod, which is said to mean commotion. Against this evil of commotion
the Psalmist prays, "Suffer not my feet to be moved;" and again, "Let
not the hands of the wicked remove me;" and again, "Those that trouble
me will rejoice when I am moved;" and, "The Lord is at my right hand,
that I should not be moved."" (Reply to Faustus the Manichaean XII:13)

Pope Innocent III (A. D. 1216): "The Lord made Cain a wanderer and a
fugitive over the earth, but set a mark upon him, making his head to
shake, lest anyone finding him should slay him. Thus the Jews, against
whom the blood of Christ calls out, although they ought not to be killed,
nevertheless, as wanderers they must remain upon the earth until their
faces are filled with shame and they seek the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ." (Epistle to the Count of Nevers)

"And unto Adam, he said, Because thou hast harkened unto the voice of
thy wife, and hath eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying,
Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt
thou eat of it all the days of thy life. [.] Therefore the Lord sent him
from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So
he drove out the man." (Genesis 3:17, 23-24)

"And the Lord God came down to see the city and the tower, which the
children of men had builded. [.] So the Lord scattered them abroad from
thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city."
(Genesis 11:5,8)

As the men of Babel raised up their tower "unto heaven", the Jews have
raised up Christ, the Way thereto. Exile is a punishment which God often
inflicts. Indeed, this life is a cursed exile, from Eden, from Heaven, due
Adam's original sin. Abiding and being exiled are deeply ontological and
eschatological in their import: they are very close to the essence of well-
being and ill-being, of blessing and curse. To "inherit the land" and
dwell in safety is a great blessing, even the desired condition, safe from
enemies, at peace and rest, able to prosper and to "see good". Such is
ultimately fulfilled in Heaven, and is the promised blessing which the
Psalmist often presents under the type of temporal stability. Exile is a
curse, even as the original curse was exile from Eden; exposed to
enemies, subject to harm and danger, with no liberty to prosper and see
good, but knowing strife and sorrow, trouble and affliction, abuse,
upheaval, loss, uncertainty, fear, vanity of effort, suffering and death.
on top of the general exile from Eden, which is the lot of all humanity in
this life, the Jews have an additional curse that severely aggravates the
condition of exile, even to the loss of homeland, nationhood and
sovereignty; such is their just punishment for deicide.

They began to be outcasts for their murder, in line with their curse, when
God cast them out from Jerusalem during the siege begun under the
commander Titus on the day of the Passover, March 31, 70 A. D., when
the temple was destroyed and the Jews were scattered forth. Titus replied
to those who congratulated him: "It is not I who have conquered. God in
His wrath against the Jews, has made use of my arm."

"Then the Lord reigned upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and
fire from the Lord out of heaven. And he overthrew those cities, and all
the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon
the ground." (Genesis 19:24-25)

"But the court that is without the temple, cast out, and measure it not:
because it is given unto the gentiles, and the holy city they shall tread
under foot two and forty months. [.] The great city, which is called
spiritually Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord also was crucified."
(Apocalypse 11:2, 8)

"These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses
to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the
covenant which he made with them in Horeb. [.] And the whole land
thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor
beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and
Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger,
and in his wrath. Even all the nations shall say, Wherefore hath the Lord
done thus unto this land? What meaneth the heat of this great anger?
Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord
God of their Fathers. [.] And the anger of the Lord was kindled against
this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book.
the Lord rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great
indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day."
(Deuteronomy 29:1, 23-25, 27-28)

The Lord had repeatedly prophesied that He would soon come to beat
down the Jews and to cast them out, for that they afflicted Him; indeed
Christ's destruction of Jerusalem is intensely repeated in the prophets as
a central theme, to such an extent and degree as would greatly surprise
those who have not read or understood them; "their blood" was
"sprinkled upon" His "garments," and thus he did "stain" all "his
raiment": His clothes were covered in their blood.

"From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in
Him; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been
closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. Your country is
desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it
your presence, and it is desolate as overthrown by strangers. [.] And I
will bring forth a Seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an Inheritor of my
mountains. [.] Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all
bow down to the slaughter: because when I called ye did not answer;
when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before Mine eyes. [.] And ye
shall leave your name for a curse unto My chosen: for the Lord shall slay
thee, and call his servants by another name." (Isaias 1:6-7; 65:9, 12,

Saint Hippolytus: "What then? Are not these things come to pass? Are
not the things announced by thee fulfilled? Is not their country, Judea,
desolate? Is not the holy place burned with fire? Are not their walls cast
down? Are not their cities destroyed? Their land, do not strangers devour
it? Do not the Romans rule the country?" (Fragments of Dogmatic and
Historical Works, 30)

"Who is This, that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah?
He that is glorious in His apparel, travelling in the greatness of His
strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. Wherefore art
Thou red in Thine apparel, and Thy garments like him that treadeth in the
winefat? I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was
none with Me: for I will tread them in Mine anger, and trample them in My
fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon My garments, and I will stain
all My raiment. For the day of vengeance is in Mine heart, and the year of
My redeemed is come. And I looked, and there was none to help; and I
wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore Mine own arm
brought salvation unto Me; and in My fury, it upheld me. And I will tread
down the people in Mine anger, and I will make them drunk in My fury,
and I will bring down their strength to the earth. [.] But they rebelled and
vexed His holy spirit: therefore He was turned to be their enemy, and He
fought against them." (Isaias 63:1-6, 10-11)

""Therefore having yet one son most dear to him, he sent him unto them
last of all, saying: They will reverence my son. But the husbandmen said
one to another: This is the heir; come let us kill him; and the inheritance
shall be ours. And laying hold on him they killed him, and cast him out of
the vineyard. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come
and destroy those husbandmen; and will give the vineyard to others."
Which they hearing, said to him, God forbid. But he looking on them said:
What is this then that is written, The Stone which the builders rejected
has become the head of the corner? Whosoever shall fall upon this
Stone, shall be bruised: and upon whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind
him to powder." (Saint Luke 20:13-18)

""For the days shall come upon thee: and thine enemies shall cast a
trench about thee, and compass thee round, and straiten thee on every
side. And beat thee flat to the ground, and thy children who are in thee:
and they shall not leave in thee a stone upon a stone: because thou hast
not known the time of thy visitation." And entering into the temple, he
began to cast out them that sold therein and them that bought. [.] And
when the evening was come, he went forth out of the city. And when they
passed by in the morning, they saw the fig-tree dried up from the roots.
And Peter remembering, said to him: Rabbi, behold, the fig-tree which
thou didst curse is withered away." (Saint Luke 19:42-45; Saint Mark

The visitation of Christ's blood upon Jerusalem and the cursed Jews is
typified in the Mosaic law, where the priest Aaron prefigures our High
Priest, Christ (Hebrews 9:11), as does the sacrificed goat, and where the
sanctuary, the holy place, represents Jerusalem; and the bringing of the
blood typifies His vengeful visitation of the Jews; His passion is to the
salvation of just Christians, and to the condemnation of the deicidal

Saint Cyril of Jerusalem: "The blood for the Jews, and the water for the
Christians [from Christ's side]; for upon them as plotters came the
condemnation from the blood." (Catechetical Lectures XIII:21)

Theodoret (A. D. 458): "He explains the figure of the sacrifice of the
goats, for on behalf of sin, in the Law, a goat, and not a lamb, was
offered. So the Lord in the Gospels likened the just to lambs, but the
sinners to goats [Saint Matthew 25]; and since He was ordained to
undergo the passion not only on behalf of just men, but also of sinners."
(Dialogue III, On the Impassable)

"Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: [...] Then shall he kill the
of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the
veil, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat."
(Leviticus 16:3, 15)

"For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the Holies
by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. Wherefore Jesus
also, that he might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered without
the gate. Let us go therefore to him outside the camp; bearing his
reproach. For we have not here a lasting city, but we seek one that is to
come." (Hebrews 13:11-14)

"His blood be on us and on our children." (Saint Matthew 27:25)

"And therefore he is the mediator of the new testament. [.] For when
every command of the law had been read by Moses to all the people, he
took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and
hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, saying, This
is the blood of the testament, which God hath enjoined unto you."
(Hebrews 9:15, 19-20)

"The holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and teaches that the
matter pertaining to the law of the Old Testament, of the Mosaic law,
which are divided into ceremonies, sacred rites, sacrifices, and
sacraments, because they were established to signify something in the
future, although they were suited to the divine worship of that time, after
Our Lord's coming had been signified by them, ceased, and the
Sacraments of the New Testament began." (Council of Florence; ex

Saint Thomas Aquinas following Saint Jerome: "He did not dry up the fig-
tree for its own sake, but for a sign that Jerusalem should come to
destruction." (Catena Aurea, Saint Mark 11:23)

Saint Justin Martyr: ""Because they have transgressed against Me, and
despised Me, and because they have walked contrary to Me, I also
walked contrary to them, and I shall cut them off in the land of their
enemies. [.] [Leviticus 26:40]" For the circumcision [lit. "cutting off"],
according to the flesh, which is from Abraham, was given for a sign; that
you may be separated from other nations, and from us; and that you
alone may suffer that which you now justly suffer; and that your land may
be desolate, and your cities burned with fire; and that strangers may eat
your fruit in your presence, and not one of you may go up to Jerusalem.
For you are not recognized among the rest of men by any other mark than
your fleshly circumcision. [.] Accordingly, these things have happened to
you in fairness and justice, for you have slain the Just One, and His
prophets before Him." (Dialogue with Trypho the Jew 16)

"A fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. [.] And the Lord
set a mark upon Cain." (Genesis 4:12, 15)

Saint Athanasius: "And the kingdom of Jerusalem ceased at the same
time, because kings were to be anointed among them only until the Holy
of holies had been anointed. Moses also prophesies that the kingdom of
the Jews shall stand until His time, saying, "A ruler shall not fail from
Judah nor a prince from his loins, until the things laid up for him shall
come and the Expectation of the nations Himself." [Genesis 49:10]"

Some Christians may have fought dutifully with the Romans, knowing
that the destruction was indeed the will of God; the Blessed Sacrament
may even have been taken into the battle as the Christians' standard.
What is certain is that the Romans were supported by God, and that it
was His doing, to revenge both His death, and that of his servants, the
prophets and the Christians.

"And the rest laid hands on his servants, and having treated them
contumeliously, put them to death. But when the king had heard of it, he
was angry, and sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers, and
burnt their city." (Saint Matthew 22:7)

"And while I was speaking in prayer, behold, the man Gabriel, whom I
had seen in the vision at the beginning, flying swiftly, touched me about
the time of the evening oblation. And he taught me and spoke unto me,
and said: "O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and
understanding. [...] Know therefore and understand, that from the going
forth of the command to build up Jerusalem again, unto Christ the Prince,
there shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks. The street
shall be built again, and the walls, even in troublesome times. And after
threescore and two weeks, shall Christ be killed; and they who deny shall
not be His people. And the people with the Prince to come shall destroy
the city and the sanctuary: and its end shall be desolation. And after the
end of the war, shall be the appointed desolation. And He shall uphold
the pact with many for one week; and in the midst of the week, the
offering and the sacrifice shall vanish. And there shall be the
abomination of desolation in the temple. And even unto the
consummation and the end, the desolation shall continue."" (Daniel

Tertullian: "And thus, in the day of their storming, the Jews fulfilled the
70 hebdomads predicted in Daniel." (A Reply to the Jews 8)

Clement of Alexandria: "The half of the week Nero held sway, and in the
holy city Jerusalem placed the abomination; and in the half of the week
he was taken away, and Otho, and Galba, and Vitellius. And Vespasian
rose to the supreme power, and destroyed Jerusalem, and desolated the
holy place." (Miscellanies I:21)

Saint John Chrysostom: ""After this therefore," saith He, "shall come
the end of Jerusalem." For that He intimates this was manifested by what
follows. For He brought in also a prophesy to confirm their desolation,
saying, "But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken by
the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place, let him that readeth
understand." [Saint Matthew 24:15]" (Homily LXXV on the Gospel of
Saint Matthew)

"All Mine enemies murmured together against Me; they have conceived
evils against Me. They have constituted the iniquitous word against Me:
"Who sleeps will not arise." And the man of My peace, in whom I trusted,
who ate My bread, has magnified treachery against Me. But Thou, O Lord,
have mercy on Me and raise Me up: and I will repay them." (Psalm 40)

"I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture
may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, shall lift up his heel
against me. At present I tell you, before it shall come to pass, that when
shall come to pass, you may believe that I am He." (Saint John 13:18-19)

Saint Augustine: ""But Thou," he saith, "O Lord, have mercy on Me and
raise Me up: and I will repay them." Who can now deny this who sees the
Jews, after the passion and resurrection of Christ, utterly rooted up from
their abodes by warlike slaughter and destruction? For, being slain by
them, He has risen again, and has requited them." (The City of God

Saint John Chrysostom: "Then to show that He Himself also will assail the
Jews with them, and war on them, He speaks not only of battles only, but
also of plagues sent from God, famines, and pestilences, and
earthquakes, [Saint Matthew 24:7] showing that the wars also He
Himself permitted to come upon them, and that these things do not
happen for no purpose according to what has been before the
accustomed course of things amongst men, but proceed from the wrath
on high. And therefore He said not that they should come only, or come
suddenly, but adds significantly, "These all are the beginnings of
troubles," that is, of the Jewish troubles." (Homily LXXV on the Gospel of
Saint Matthew)

"They stood by, the kings of the earth; and the rulers were gathered
together into one, against the Lord and against His Christ. [.] He who
dwells in the heavens will laugh at them: the Lord will deride them. Then
He will speak to them in his anger, and in His wrath He will trouble them."
(Psalm 2:2, 4-5)

"They gave me also gall for My meat; and in My thirst they gave me
vinegar to drink. [...] Pour out Thine anger upon them, and let the wrath of
Thine anger take hold of them. Let their habitation be desolate: and let
none dwell in their tents. For they persecuted Him Whom Thou hast
smitten, and upon the sorrow of My wounds they have added." (Psalm
68:22, 26-27)

Saint Hippolytus (A. D. 235): "And whereas thou didst pour out His blood
in indignation, hear what thy recompense shall be: "Pour out thine anger
upon them, and let the wrath of thine anger take behold of them;" and,
"Let their habitation be desolate," to wit, their celebrated temple. [...]
But why, O prophet, tell us and for what reason, was the temple made
desolate? [...] It was because they killed the Son of their Benefactor: for
He is coeternal with the Father. Whence He saith, "Father, let their
temple be made desolate; for they have persecuted Him whom thou didst
of Thine own will smite for the salvation of the world."" (Against the Jews
6, 7)

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them
that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children
together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would
not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate." (Saint Luke 13:34-5)

"And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of
them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they
held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying: How long, O Lord, Holy and
True, dost Thou not judge and revenge our blood on them that dwell on
the earth? And white robes were given to every one of them: and it was
said to them, that they should rest for a little time, till their fellow-
servants, and their brethren, who are to be slain, even as they, should be
filled up." (Apocalypse 6:9-11)

"Therefore behold I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes:
and some of them you will put to death and crucify, and some you will
scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city: That upon
you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the
blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias,
whom ye slew between the temple and the altar." (Saint Matthew 23:34-

"For ye, brethren, have become followers of the churches of God which in
Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your
own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: who both killed the Lord
Jesus Christ, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they
please not God, and are adversaries to all men: forbidding us to speak to
the gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the
wrath is come upon them to the uttermost." (I Thessalonians 2:14-6)

"And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig-tree, and all the trees;
When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that
summer is now nigh at hand." (Saint Luke 21:29-30)

Andreas of Cappadocia Caesarea (A. D. 506): ""And I saw, when he had
opened the sixth seal, and behold there was a great earthquake, and the
sun became as black as sackcloth of hair, and the whole moon became
as blood. And the stars from heaven fell upon the earth, as a fig-tree
casteth its green figs when it is shaken by the wind." [Apocalypse 6:12-
13] There are not wanting those who apply this passage to the siege and
destruction of Jerusalem by Titus." (On the Apocalypse)

"And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament;
and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.
[.] One is the glory of the sun, another the glory of the moon, and
another the glory of the stars. For star differs from star in glory."
12:3; 1 Corinthians 15:41)

Saint John Chrysostom: "For I will ask them, Did He send the prophets
and wise men? Did they slay them in their synagogue? Was their house
left desolate? Did all the vengeance come upon that generation? It is
quite plain that it was so, and no man gainsays it." (On Matthew, Homily

"And I saw, when he had opened the sixth seal. [.] And they said to the
mountains and to the rocks, "fall upon us, and hide us from the face of
Him who sits upon the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the
great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?""
(Apocalypse 6:12, 16-17)

"But Jesus turning to them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep
for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. [.] Then they will
begin to say to the mountains, "fall upon us," and to the hills, "Cover
us!" For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the
dry?"" (Saint Luke 23:28, 30-31)

"The great city, which is called mystically Sodom and Egypt, where their
Lord also was crucified. [.] Woe, woe, O the great city, Babylon, for in
one hour has thy judgement come! [.] And the ten horns that thou
sawest, and the beast [pre-Constantine pagan Rome], these will hate the
harlot, and will make her desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh, and
will burn her up in fire. For God has put it into their hearts to carry out
purpose. [.] Make merry over her, O heaven, and you the saints and the
apostles and the prophets, for God has judged your cause upon her. And
a strong angel took up a stone, as it were a great millstone, and cast it
into the sea, saying, "With this violence will Babylon, the great city, be
overthrown, and will not be found any more. [.] And in her was found the
blood of the prophets and of the saints, and of all who have been slain
upon the earth." After these things I heard as it were a loud voice of a
great crowd in heaven, saying, "Alleluia! salvation and glory belong to
our God. For true and just are his judgements, who has judged the great
harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the
blood of his servants at her hands."" (Apocalypse 11:8; 18:10; 17:16-
17; 18:20-21, 24-19:2)

Having prophesied that He would come to desolate and expel the Jews,
He then accomplished it. Upon the desolation of Jerusalem, they became
Cainite outcasts for their deicide, as He had prophesied:

"Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: [...] And there shall be no
man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an
atonement in the holy place." (Leviticus 16:3, 17)

Saint Augustine: ""Let their habitation become desolate, and in their
habitation let there be not anyone to inhabit." [Psalm 68] There hath
come to pass this thing in the very city Jerusalem, wherein they thought
themselves mighty in crying against the Son of God, "Crucify, crucify;"
and in prevailing because they were able to kill Him that raised dead
men. How mighty to themselves, how great, they seemed! There followed
afterward the vengeance of the Lord: stormed was the city, utterly
conquered the Jews, slain were I know not how many thousands of men.
No one of the Jews is permitted to come thither now: where they were
able to cry against the Lord, there by the Lord they are not permitted to
dwell. They have lost the place of their fury. [...] Why so? "For Him whom
Thou hast smitten they themselves have persecuted, and upon the pain
of my wounds they have added."" (On the Psalms: 68, 26-27)

Tertullian: "Since, therefore, the Jews were predicted as destined to
suffer these calamities on Christ's account, and we find that they have
suffered them, and see them sent into dispersion and abiding in it, it is
manifest that it is on Christ's account that these things have befallen the
Jews, the sense of the Scriptures harmonizing with the issue of events
and of the order of the times." (An Answer to the Jews 13)

"A fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be on the earth." (Genesis 4:12)

Origen: "What nation is an exile from their own city, and from the place
sacred to the worship of their fathers, save the Jews alone? And these
calamities they have suffered, because they were a most wicked nation,
which, although guilty of many other sins, yet has been punished so
severely for none, as for those that were committed against our Jesus."
(Against Celsus II:8)

Saint Sulpicius Severus (A. D. 425): "Jews are beheld scattered
throughout the whole world: they have been punished for no other reason
than for the impious hands they laid on Christ." (On Chronicles II)

Saint Augustine: "But the Jews who slew Him, and would not believe in
Him, because it behooved Him to die and to rise again, were yet more
miserably wasted by the Romans, were utterly rooted out from their
kingdom, and were dispersed through the lands, so that indeed there is
no place where they are not." (The City of God XVIII:46)

Saint John Chrysostom: "But the Jew totally rejects this testimony. He
refuses to admit what Christ said. What does the Jew say? "The man who
said this is my foe. I crucified him. So how am I to accept his testimony?"
But this is the marvel of it. You Jews did crucify Him. But after He died on
the cross, He then destroyed your city; it was then that He dispersed your
people; it was then that He scattered your nation over the face of the
earth. In doing this, He teaches us that He is risen, alive, and in heaven.
Because you were not willing to recognize His power through His
benefactions, He taught you by his punishment and vengeance that no
one can struggle with or prevail against His might and strength." (Fifth
Homily Against the Jews 7, 8)

Ejected through the world, the Jews are cursed "blind" "witnesses" to
the truth of the Catholic Faith, to the fulfilment of its prophecies, the
historical authenticity of its scriptures, to its divine origin; and also to
fate of those who resist God and His Faith.

"Ye blind guides. [.] Ye be witnesses against yourselves." (Saint
Matthew 23:17, 24, 31)

Saint Augustine: "The Jews have been scattered throughout all nations
as witnesses to their own iniquity and to our truth. They themselves have
the writings that have prophesied Christ. And if sometime perchance any
heathen man may have doubted, when we have told him the prophesies
of Christ, at the clearness whereof he is amazed, and wondering hath
supposed that they were written by ourselves, then out of the copies of
the Jews we prove how this thing so long time before had been foretold.
And so by means of one enemy we confound another. Scatter them
abroad; take away their strength. And bring them down, O Lord." (On The
Psalms: 58)

"And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand
not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people
fat, and make their hearts heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with
their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and
convert and be healed." (Isaias 6:9-10)

"They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me
vinegar to drink. Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a
stumbling block, and a recompense unto them: let their eyes be
darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their backs always."
(Psalm 68)

Roman Emperor Constantine (A. D. 337): "Jews are a people who having
imbrued their hands in a most heinous outrage, have thus polluted their
souls and are deservedly blind."

Saint Augustine: ""Let their eyes be darkened lest they see, and bow
down their back always." Therefore, when the Jews do not believe our
Scriptures, their own which they blindly read, are fulfilled in them, lest
perhaps anyone should say that the Christians have forged theses
prophecies about Christ which are quoted under the name of the sibyl, or
of others, if such there be, who do not belong to the Jewish people. For us
indeed, those suffice which are quoted from the books of our enemies, to
whom we make our acknowledgement, on account of this testimony
which, in spite of themselves, they contribute by their possession of these
books, while they themselves are dispersed among all nations, wherever
the Church of Christ is spread abroad. [.] But, whilst they read, let them
not wonder that they, whose are the books, understand not by reason of
the darkness of enmity. For that they would not understand was foretold
beforehand by the same Prophets; which it behoved should be fulfilled in
like manner as the rest, and by the secret and just judgement of God a
due punishment should be rendered to their deserts. [.] "Let their eyes
be darkened that they see not, and ever bow Thou down their back."
Thus, having with them the clear testimonies of our cause, they walk
around with their eyes darkened, that by their means those testimonies
might be proved, wherein they themselves are disproved. [.] In their
books our supporters, in their hearts our enemies, in their copies our
witnesses." (The City of God XVIII:46; Concerning Faith of Things Not
Seen 9)

"Till the end they shall remain a spectacle before all the world of a
wicked and unrepentant people - a people who have called on their
heads the abiding wrath of God." (The Point, April 1956)

Saint Bernard: "We read in the Psalm a new kind of prophecy concerning
the Jews: "God has shown me", says the Church, "on the subject of my
enemies", to "slay them not in case my people should ever forget"
[Psalm 58]. Alive, however, they are eminent reminders for us of the
Lord's suffering. On this account they are scattered through all lands in
order that they may be witnesses to our redemption while they pay the
just penalties for so great a crime." (Epistle 363)

Christ, being raised upon the cross, looked over His enemies gathered
around Him with their reviling tongues, and in His love saw into the
expanse of the world beyond. The Divine Nature spoke to Him of His
people, His Church to be: and He foresaw that it could be benefited by
the preservation of some of His enemies, scattered through the world as
cursed "witnesses". Therefore, he beseeched the Father, that it should
be so, according to the goodness of the revelation. Hence, God and His
Church do not wipe out the Jews, for all their guilt of deicide, because
they fulfil, albeit unbeknown to their own cursed faithlessness, a useful
role; Our Lady's verdict upon her son's murders (Esther 9:13-14) is not
fulfilled totally in this world (although the bulk were exterminated at the
desolation of Jerusalem), but in the more serious eternal death reserved
for all the "blind" faithless Jews who die unconverted and unrepentant.
The Lord be praised for those few Jews whom He brings to salvation in the
Catholic Faith.

"Behold, they speak with their mouths and a sword is on their lips. [.]
God has shown to Me, above Mine enemies, Slay them not, lest My
people forget: disperse them by Thy power; and bring them down, O Lord,
my protector. [.] And because of [their] cursing and lying, they will be
shown forth in the consummation, in the anger of the consummation, and
they shall not be." (Psalm 58)

"They gave me gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to
drink. [.] Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see. [.] Let them
not come into Thy righteousness. Let them be blotted out of the book of
the living, and not be written with the righteous." (Psalm 68) "And if
anyone was not found written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the
pool of fire." (Apocalypse 20:15)

Saint Augustine: "For a prophecy about this thing was sent before in the
Psalms, which they also read, where it is written, "My God, His mercy
shall prevent me. My God hath shown me concerning mine enemies, that
Thou shalt not slay them, lest they should at last forget Thy law: disperse
them in Thy might." Therefore God has shown to the Church, in her
enemies the Jews, the grace of His compassion, since, as saith the
Apostle, "their offence is the salvation of the Gentiles." [Romans 11:11]
And therefore He has not slain them, that is, He has not let the knowledge
that they are Jews be lost in them. [.] But it was not enough that He
should say, "Slay them not, lest they should at last forget Thy law,"
unless He had also added, "Disperse them;" because if they had only
been in their own land with that testimony of the Scriptures, and not
everywhere, certainly the Church which is everywhere could not have had
them as witnesses among all nations to the prophecies which were sent
before concerning Christ." (The City of God XVIII:46)

Innocent III: "Although in many ways the disbelief of the Jews must be
reproved, since nevertheless through them our own Faith is truly proved,
they must not be oppressed grievously by the Faithful, as the prophet
says: "Do not slay them, lest these be forgetful of Thy Law," as if he were
saying more openly: "Do not wipe out the Jews completely, lest perhaps
Christians might be able to forget Thy Law, which the former, although
not understanding it, present in their books to those who do understand

Saint Augustine: "Therefore it was brought to pass, that they should not
be so blotted out, as that this same sect should altogether exist not: but
it was scattered abroad upon the earth, in order that, carrying with it the
prophecies of the grace conferred upon us, more surely to convince
unbelievers, it might everywhere profit it. And this very thing which I
assert, receive ye after what manner it was prophesied of: "Slay them
not," saith He, "lest at any time they forget thy law, but scatter them
abroad in thy might." Therefore, they were not slain, in that they forgot
not those things which were read and heard among them. For if they were
to altogether forget, albeit they understand not, the Holy Scriptures, they
would be slain in the Jewish ritual itself; because, when the Jews should
know nothing of the Law and of the Prophets, they would be unable to
profit us. Therefore they were not slain, but scattered abroad; in order
that, although they should not have in faith, whence they might be saved;
yet they should retain in their memory, whence we might be helped."
(Concerning Faith of Things Not Seen 9)

Saint Thomas Aquinas: "He adds of His adversaries, But those mine
enemies who would not that I should reign over them, bring them hither,
and slay them before me. [Saint Luke 19:27] Whereby He describes the
ungodliness of the Jews who refused to be converted to Him. Whom He
will deliver to death, casting them into the outer fire. But even in this
world they were most miserably slain by the Roman army." (Catena
Aurea, ad loc.)

King Alfonso X, the Wise, of Castile (circa A. D. 1265): "The reason that
the Church, emperors, kings and princes permitted the Jews to dwell
among them and with Christians, is because they always lived, as it were,
in captivity, as it was constantly a token in the minds of men that they
were descended from those who crucified Our Lord Jesus Christ." (Las
Siete Partidas)

6. The Jews are cursed with the curse of Esau, to be perpetually
subjugated outcasts.

So, the Jew is cursed with the curse of Cain, to be a perpetual outcast for
his deicide; he is, moreover cursed with the curse of Esau to be a
perpetually subjugated outcast, subject to the Church, which is typified
by Jacob. We shall first introduce the Biblical narrative of Jacob and
Esau, and then we shall see how the Fathers applied it to the Jews.

"And Isaac entreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and
the Lord was entreated of him, and Rebecca his wife conceived. And the
children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I
thus? And she went to enquire of the Lord. And the Lord said unto her,
Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be
separated from thy womb; and the one people shall be stronger than the
other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. And when her days to
be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. And the
first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his
name Esau. And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold
on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob." (Genesis 25:21-26)

Jacob is a figure of the Church, and Esau of the Jew:

Saint Hippolytus: "Isaac conveys a figure of God the Father; Rebecca of
the Holy Spirit; Esau of the first people and the devil; Jacob of the Church
or Christ. [.] That the elder son is called, expresses the Jews' possession
of the law. [.] The robe of Esau denotes the faith and Scriptures of the
Hebrews, with which the people of the Gentiles were endowed. [.] In that
Isaac asks of Jacob why he came so soon, we take him as admiring the
quick faith of them that believe." (Fragment from Commentary on
Genesis; preserved in Saint Jerome's Letter 36, to Pope Damasus.)

Tertullian: "Come, ascend we unto the mount of the Lord, and unto the
house of the God of Jacob." Not of Esau, the former son, but of Jacob, the
second; that is, of our "people," whose "mount" is Christ." (A Reply to
the Jews 3)

Saint Cyprian: "Two peoples were foretold, the elder and the younger;
that is, the old people of the Jews, and the new one which should consist
of us. "And the Lord said unto Rebecca, Two nations are in thy womb,
and two peoples shall be separated from thy belly; and the one people
shall overcome the other people; and the elder shall serve the
younger."" (Three Books of Testimonies Against the Jews, I:19)

Even as Jacob the younger supplanted Esau the elder, even so the Church
has replaced the Jews, the former heirs, as the people of God, in their
deicidal fall:

"And Jacob made pottage: and Esau came from the field and was faint.
And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee with that same red pottage,
for I am faint. Therefore was his name called Edom. And Jacob said, Sell
me this day your birthright. And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to
die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? And Jacob said, Swear
to me this day; and he swore unto him: and he sold his birthright unto
Jacob." (Genesis 25:29-33)

Saint Irenaeus: "If anyone will look again into Jacob's actions, he shall
find them not destitute of meaning, but full of import with regard to the
dispensations. Thus, in the first place, at his birth, since he laid hold on
his brother's heel, he was called "Jacob", that is, "the supplanter" - one
who holds, but is not held; binding the feet, but not being bound; striving
and conquering; grasping in his hand his adversaries heel, that is, victory.
For to this end was the Lord born, the type of whose birth he set forth
beforehand, of whom also John says in the Apocalypse: "he went forth
conquering that he should conquer." [Apocalypse 6:1-2] In the next
place, Jacob received the rights of the first-born, when his brother looked
on them with contempt; even as also the younger nation received Him,
Christ, the first-begotten, when the elder nation rejected Him, saying,
"We have no king but Caesar." But in Christ is every blessing, and
therefore the latter people has snatched away the blessings of the former
from the Father, just as Jacob took away the blessing of Esau." (Against
the Heresies IV:21)

Saint Cyprian: "The Jews, according to what had before been foretold,
had departed from God, and had lost God's favour, which had been given
them in past time, and had been promised them for the future; while the
Christians had succeeded to their place, deserving well of the Lord by
faith, and coming out of all nations and from the whole world." (Against
the Jews)

Lactantius: "Now that the Jews were disinherited, because they rejected
Christ, and that we, who are of the Gentiles, were adopted into their
place, is proved by the Scriptures. Jerimias thus speaks: "I have forsaken
mine house, I have given mine heritage into the hands of her enemies.
Mine heritage is become to me as a lion in the forest; it hath given forth
its voice against me: therefore hath I hated it." [Jeremias 12:7-8] Also
Malachi: "I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord, neither will I accept
an offering at your hand. For from the rising of the sun even unto the
going down thereof, my name shall be great among the Gentiles."
[Malachi 1:10-11] Isaias also thus speaks: "I come to gather all nations
and tongues: and they shall come and see my glory." [Isaias 66:18]"

"And taking him, they cast him forth out of the vineyard and killed him.
[.] Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from
you, and shall be given to a nation yielding the fruits thereof." (Saint
Matthew 21:39, 43)

"For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for
the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. [.] He taketh away the first
[covenant] that he may establish the second." (Hebrews 7:18; 10:9)

After Esau bargained away to Jacob the birthright which he had as eldest
son, Jacob was blessed in his brother's place by his father Isaac, such as
that Esau would serve him:

"Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy
brother, and let thy mother's son bow down to thee: cursed be every one
that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee." (Genesis

Even so, the Holy Church is blessed by God, but the Jew is cursed for
murdering Christ, such as that he is in bondage, even unto the Church:

Saint Irenaeus: "The history of Isaac, too, is not without a symbolical
character. For in the Epistle to the Romans, the Apostle declares:
"Moreover, when Rebecca had conceived by one, even by our father,
Isaac", she received answer from the Word, "that the purpose of God
according to election might stand, not of works, but of Him that calleth, it
was said to her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people
are in thy body; and the one people shall overcome the other, and the
elder shall serve the younger." From which it is evident, that not only
were there prophesies of the patriarchs, but also that the children
brought forth by Rebecca were a prediction of the two nations; and that
the one should be indeed the greater, but the other the less; that the one
also should be under bondage, but the other free. [.] And for this reason
has He said, "Jacob, I have loved, but Esau I have hated."" (Against the
Heresies IV:21)

Tertullian: "For God ordained "two peoples and two nations" as about to
proceed out of the womb of one woman: nor did grace make distinction
in the nuncupative appellation, but in the order of birth; to the effect
whichever was to be prior in proceeding from the womb, should be
subjected to "the younger," that is, the posterior. [...] Beyond doubt,
through the edict of the divine utterance, the prior and "older" people -
that is, the Jewish - must necessarily serve the "younger;" and the
"younger" people - that is, the Christian - overcome the "older." [...] For
thus has the "younger" - that is, posterior - people overcome the "older
people," while it attains the grace of divine favour, from which Israel has
been divorced." (A Reply to the Jews 1)

Saint Augustine: "That saying, "The elder shall serve the younger", is
understood by our writers, almost without exception, to mean that the
elder people, the Jews, shall serve the younger people, the Christians.
And truly, although this might seem to be fulfilled in the Idumean nation,
which was born of the elder (who had two names, being called both Esau
and Edom, whence the name Idumeans), because it was afterwards to be
overcome by the people which sprang from the younger, that is, by the
Israelites, and was to become subject to them; yet it is more suitable to
believe that, when it was said, "The one people shall overcome the other
people, and the elder shall serve the younger," that prophecy meant
some greater thing; and what is that except what is evidently fulfilled in
the Jews and in the Christians? [...] He [Christ] is the Lord of His
because His people rules over the Jews." (The City of God, XVI:35, 37)

As the children of Esau were cursed with slavery, even so those of the
Jews, upon whose head they invoked Christ's blood. Like their curse of
being outcasts, their perpetual subjugation was begun when they were
expelled from Jerusalem:

"The Christians, recalling Christ's prophecies, withdrew beyond the
Jordan into Agrippa's territory, led by their bishop, Saint Simeon. [...]
walls of the Temple and those of the city were demolished. [...] During
this siege - one of the most sanguinary recorded in history - 600,000
Jews, according to Tacitus or, according to Josephus, more than a million,
perished by the sword, disease, or famine. The survivors died in
gladiatorial combats or were sold into slavery." (Jerusalem, Catholic
Encyclopedia, 1910, VIII, pp. 349-450)

Saint Eusebius: "Of the rest of the multitude, those that were over
seventeen years of age were sent as prisoners to labor in the works of
Egypt, while still more were scattered through the provinces to meet their
death in the theaters by the sword and by beasts. Those under seventeen
years of age were carried away to be sold as slaves, and of these alone
the number reached ninety thousand. These things took place in this
manner in the second year of the reign of Vespasian, in accordance with
the prophesies of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Chris, who by divine power
saw them before hand as if they were already present. [.] And then, as if
speaking concerning the people, Christ says, "For there shall be great
distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the
edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations. And
Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles." [Saint Luke 21:23-
24]" (Ecclesiastical History III:7)

Lactantius: "Nor were these things spoken in vain. For after a short time
the Emperor Vespasian subdued the Jews, and laid waste their lands with
the sword and fire, besieged and reduced them by famine, overthrew
Jerusalem, [and] led the captives in triumph. [.] For what would they not
deserve who put to death their Lord, who had come for their salvation?"
(Epitome of the Divine Institutes 46)

Constitutions of the Holy Apostles (early centuries): "Because, indeed,
they drew servitude upon themselves voluntarily, when they said, "We
have no king but Caesar;" [Saint John 19:15] and, "If we do not slay
Christ, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and will
take away both our place and our nation." [Ibid. 11:48] And so they
prophesied unwittingly. For accordingly the nations believed on Him, and
they themselves were deprived by the Romans of their power, and of their
legal worship; and they have been forbidden to slay what they please,
and to sacrifice when they will. Wherefore, they are accursed, as not able
to perform the things they are commanded to do." (VI:25)

Saint Augustine: "Under His displeasure, they were oft-times given into
the power of their enemies. And now, indeed, on account of their most
heinous sin in putting Christ to death, they have been thoroughly rooted
out of Jerusalem itself, which was the capital of their kingdom, and have
been made subject to the Roman empire. [.] Hence, they [disputants]
cannot meet us fairly with this question: "Why, then, did the God of the
Hebrews, whom you declare to be the supreme and true God, not only not
subdue the Romans under their power, but even fail to secure those
Hebrews themselves against subjugation by the Romans?" For there
were open sins of theirs that went before them, and on account of which
the prophets so long ago predicted that this very thing would overtake
them; and above all, the reason lay in the fact, that in their impious fury
they put Christ to death." (The Harmony of the Gospels I:12, 13)

Origen: "For forty and two years, I think, after the date of the crucifixion
Christ, did the destruction of Jerusalem take place. Now it has never been
recorded, since the Jewish nation began to exist, that they have been
expelled for so long a period from their venerable temple-worship and
service, and enslaved by more powerful nations." (Against Celsus IV:22)

Saint Sulpicius Severus: "And this last overthrow of the temple, and final
captivity of the Jews, by which, being exiles from their native land, they
are beheld scattered through the whole world, furnishes a daily
demonstration to the world, that they have been punished on no other
account than for the impious hands which they laid upon Christ. For
though on other occasions they were often given over to captivity on
account of their sins, yet they never paid the penalty of slavery beyond a
period of seventy years." (Sacred History 30)

The final enslavement merited by the deicidal Jews is repeatedly foretold
in the writings of the prophets. King David prophesied it thus:

"They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me
vinegar to drink. Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a
stumbling block, and a recompense unto them: let their eyes be
darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always."
(Psalm 68:21-23)

Saint Hippolytus: "Furthermore, hear this yet more serious word: "And
there do thou bend always;" that means, in order that they may be slaves
to the nations, not four hundred and thirty years as in Egypt, nor seventy
as in Babylon, but bend them to servitude, he says, "always." In fine,
then, how dost thou indulge vain hopes, expecting to be delivered from
the misery which beholdeth thee? For that is somewhat strange. And not
unjustly has he imprecated this blindness of eyes upon thee. But because
thou didst cover the eyes of Christ when thou dist beat Him, for this
reason, too, bend thou thy back for servitude always." (Against the Jews

Saint Augustine: "The Jews wander over the entire earth, their backs bent
and their eyes cast downward, forever calling to our minds the curse they
carry with them." (Against the Jews)

Saint Augustine: ""Groaning and trembling shalt thou be upon the
earth." [So he says, God told Cain; which is also a variant reading of
Psalm 68:23] Here no one can fail to see that in every land where the
Jews are scattered, they mourn for the loss of their kingdom, and are in
terrified subjection to the immensely superior number of Christians. [...]
So to the end of the seven days of time, the continued preservation of the
Jews will be a proof to believing Christians of the subjection merited by
those who, in the pride of their kingdom, put the Lord to death." (Reply to
Faustinus the Manichaean XII:12)

"The mighty are gathered against Me, not for My transgression nor for My
sin, O Lord. [...] Swords are in their lips. [...] Slay them not, lest My
forget: scatter them by your power, and bring them down O God our
shield." (Psalm 58)

Saint Bernard, Doctor (A. D. 1153): "Jews are the living words of
Scripture for us, for they remind us always of what Our Lord suffered. They
are dispersed all over the world, so that, by expiating their crime, they
may everywhere be the living witnesses of our redemption. [...]
Wherefore, the Church says: "Scatter them by Thy power and bring them
down, O Lord." These words have been fulfilled literally: the Jews are
dispersed, humbled, and reduced to hard servitude."

Saint Hippolytus: "But again, "Scatter them," he says, "by Thy power;"
which word has also come to pass. For they are scattered throughout the
whole earth, in servitude everywhere, and engaging in the lowest and
most servile occupations, and doing any unseemly work for hunger's
sake." (Fragments of Exegesis 5)

Saint John Chrysostom: "Therefore what the prophet Daniel says is this:
after the city has been rebuilt [at the end of a previous exile] and has
recovered its own appearance and form, count the seventy weeks from
that point [to the final destruction of the temple by the Romans] and you
will see the slavery which has not yet come to an end. [.] But Daniel did
not reveal that it would come to an end nor that these troubles would ever
stop. Nor did any other prophet. Daniel did, however, predict the
opposite, namely, that this bondage would hold them in slavery until the
end of time." (Fifth and Sixth Homilies Against the Jews)

"I will tell you what I will do to my vineyeard: I will take away the hedge
thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and brake down the wall thereof, and it
shall be trodden down. And I will lay it waste. [.] For the vineyard of the
Lord of Armies is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant
plant. [.] Therefore my people are gone into captivity. [.] Therefore is
the anger if the Lord kindled against his people. [.] And he will lift up an
ensign to the nations from afar [.] and they will come speedily. [.] They
shall lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall
deliver it." (Isaias 5:5-6, 7, 13, 25, 26, 29)

"For there shall be great distress in this land, and wrath upon this
people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword: and shall be led away
captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the
gentiles." (Saint Luke 21:23-24)

"And ye yourselves thrust out. And there shall come from the east and
the west and the north and the south; and shall sit down in the kingdom
of God. And behold, they that are last shall be first, and they that are
shall be last." (Saint Luke 23:28-30)

We find the Jews' fate, of being cursed to be subjugated outcasts, forever
enslaved in their exile, repeatedly foretold also in the typology of the
Books of Moses. We have already seen it in the typology of Cain and
Esau; we see their enslavement prefigured also in Ham, the father of

"And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: And
he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his
tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father,
and told his two brothers without. [.] And Noah said, Cursed be Canaan;
a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And he said, Blessed
be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. God shall
enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan
shall be his servant." (Genesis 9:18-22, 25-27)

Saint Augustine: "For the death of Christ is signified by that man's
nakedness. [.] And therefore was Ham cursed in his son. [.] For we both
honour the death of Christ as accomplished for us, and we hate the crime
of the Jews who crucified him. [.] But the wicked brother is, in the person
of his son, the slave, of his good brothers." (The City of God XVI:2)

The Jews, prefigured by Ham, looked upon the nakedness of Christ,
typified by Noah, when they raised Him high at Golgotha: for which they
are a nation of cursed Canaanite slaves, cursed, like Ham, in their
children, upon whose head they invoked Christ's blood, subject to the
Church and the nations in habitations not their own.

Saint Augustine: "One might fear this, were it not for the widely spread
and widely known people of the Jews; that Cain, with the mark that he
should not be killed by anyone; that Ham, the servant of his brethren,
carrying as a load the books for their instruction. From the Jewish
manuscripts we prove that these things were not written by us to suit the
event, but were long ago published and preserved as prophesies in the
Jewish nation." (Reply to Faustus the Manichaean XIII:10)

We see the enslaved fate of the exiled Jews allegorized in the narrative of
Isaac and Ishmael, too:

"And the child grew and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast
the same day that Isaac was weaned. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the
Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking. Wherefore she
said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of
this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac." (Genesis
21:8-10; Galatians 4:30)

"For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bond-woman
and the other by a free-woman. But he who was of the bondwoman, was
born according to the flesh: but he of the free-woman, was by promise.
Which things are an allegory. For these are the two testaments. The one
from Mount Sina, engendering unto bondage; which is Agar. For Sina is a
mountain in Arabia, which hath affinity to that Jerusalem that now is, and
is in bondage with her children. But that Jerusalem which is above is free:
which is our mother." (Galatians 4:22-26)

It is also typified in the narrative of Joseph:

"And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it unto his brethren: and they
hated him yet the more. And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this
dream which I have dreamed: For, behold, we were binding sheaves in
the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold,
your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. And
his brothers said unto him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? Or shalt thou
indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his
dreams and his words." (Genesis 37:5-8)

Saint Aphrahat: "Joseph was persecuted, and his brothers were
persecutors; Joseph was exalted and his persecutors bowed down before
him, and so his dreams and his visions were fulfilled. Joseph who was
persecuted was a type of the persecuted Jesus. His father clothed Joseph
in a tunic of divers colours; and His Father clothed Jesus with a body from
the Virgin. His father loved Joseph more than his brethren, and Jesus is
the dear and beloved one of His Father. Joseph saw visions and dreamed
dreams; Jesus fulfilled the visions and the Prophets. Joseph was a
shepherd with his brethren; and Jesus is the Chief of Shepherds. When
his father sent Joseph to visit his brethren, they saw him coming and
plotted to kill him; and when His Father sent Jesus to visit His brethren,
they said, This is the heir; come, let us kill him. His brethen cast Joseph
into the pit; and His brethren brought down Jesus into the abode of the
dead. Joseph ascended from the pit and Jesus arose from the abode of
the dead. Joseph, after he arose from the pit, had authority over his
brethen; and after Jesus arose from the abode of the dead, His Father
gave Him a great and excellent name, that His brethren should serve Him,
and His enemies be put beneath His feet."(Of Persecution 9)

Christ, Joseph's upright sheaf, being raised up upon the cross, his
kinsmen, the Jews, all Joseph's brothers, who gathered round and hung
him there, have become slaves to Joseph, to Christ, to the Church of
Christ; and also to the nations, abiding in their Egyptian captivity.

"Cursed be Canaan, a servant of servants shall he be unto His brethren.
[.] For his sons carried Jacob into the land of Canaan, and buried him in
the cave of the field of Machpelah. [.] And Joseph's brothers also went
and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.
[.] Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into
Egypt; every man and his household. [.] All the souls that came out of
Jacob. [.] Therefore did they set over them taskmasters to afflict them
with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities." (Genesis
9:25; 50:13, 18; Exodus 1:1-5, 11)

And so all the Jewish nation, prefigured here by Jacob, are finally dead in
slavery, buried in the land of the cursed slave nation Canaan-Ham, a land
not their own, in their subjugative Egyptian exile.

"The great city, which is called spiritually Sodom and Egypt, where their
Lord also was crucified." (Apocalypse 11:8)

Thus Jacob typifies both the blessed Christians and the cursed
unbelieving Jews, being the spiritual father of the one, and the fleshly
father of the other; in his spirit he saw God, but his flesh was lame:

Saint Augustine: "And yet Jacob besought a blessing from the very angel
that he had overcome; and so the imposition of this name was the
blessing. For Israel means, seeing God, which will at last be the reward of
all the saints. The angel also touched him on the breadth of the thigh
when he was overcoming him [Genesis 32:25], and in that way made him
lame. So that Jacob was at one and the same time blessed and lame:
blessed in those among that people who believed in Christ, and lame in
the unbelieving." (The City of God XVI:39)

The Jews' expulsion and ensuing captivity was also strangely prefigured in
the typification of the Passover. As already noted, Titus commenced the
siege of Jerusalem on the Day of the Passover, 70 A. D., even as they slew
the Lamb of God on the preparation thereof (Saint John 19:31) in 33 A.
D.; that is not without significance.

"And all these thy servants [O Pharaoh] shall come down unto me
[Moses], and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out and all
the people that follow thee. [.] For I [the Lord] will pass through the land
of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt,
both man and beast. [.] Speak ye [O Moses and Aaron] unto all the
congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall
take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a
lamb for a house. [.] And the blood shall be to you as a token upon the
houses where you are. [.] You shall keep it a feast by an ordinance
forever." (Exodus 11:8; 12:12-14)

The Jews have shed the blood of the spotless "Lamb of God" (Saint John
1:29), and it is upon their dwellings, "according to the house of their
[now deicidal] fathers". But, being unbaptized in their infidelity, they are
not marked as Christ's. They are "the firstborn in the land of Egypt", the
elder people in captivity: so the Lord has "found" them in His passing
through, and the once blessed are now accursed slaves forever. And as
the Egyptians bowed down to Moses, the Jews are subject to the Church
of Christ; but it is they who are sent forth, smitten from Jerusalem in the
Lord's passing through; they have lost the Promise Land and have
returned to Egyptian captivity.

"And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
and found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and
the changers of money sitting. And when he had made a whip of small
cords he drove them all out of the temple." (Saint John 2:13-5)

Only Christ, typified by Moses, can lead individuals from this captivity, if
they leave off being Jewish slaves and become Christians in the true
Promise Land of the Church and Heaven, of which the carnal land was
only a type that has forever passed away with the coming of the real:

"By faith Abraham sojourned in the land of promise. [.] For he looked
for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. [.]
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen
them afar off [.] and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims
upon the earth. [.] But now they desire a better land, that is, an
heavenly. [.] The heavenly Jerusalem." (Hebrews 11; 13:22)

But the unbelieving deicidal Jewish nation will forever abide in carnal and
spiritual Egypt, in civil bondage and in bondage to sin, not hearing Christ
risen from the dead, any more than they heard Moses:

"This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel: A prophet shall God
raise up to you of your own brethren, as myself, him ye shall hear
[Deuteronomy 18:15]. [.] Whom our fathers would not obey; but thrust
him away, and in their hearts turned back into Egypt. [.] As your fathers
did, so do you also." (Acts 7:37, 39, 51)

The Jewish nation, the elder brothers Cain, Ishmael, Esau, and Joseph's
brothers, have lost their inheritance to the Church, the younger nation,
Abel, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph: and, like these elders, are exiled slaves. This
is the fourth, final, permanent earthly captivity of the Jews in bondage:

Saint John Chrysostom: "Now it is time to come back to the question we
proposed for investigation, namely, the Jews' present slavery and their
bondage of today. [...] Indeed, the Jews three times endured bondage,
very harsh and most severe: but none of these came upon them
unpredicted. [...] First, I shall speak of the prediction of their slavery
Egypt. Surely, in speaking to Abraham, God said: "Know for certain that
your posterity will be strangers in a land not their own; they shall be
subjected to slavery and shall be oppressed four hundred years"
[Genesis 15:13]. [...] Come now and let us turn our discussion to the
second captivity. What one is that? The bondage in Babylon. Jeremiah
certainly foretold it exactly when he said: "Thus says the Lord: Only after
seventy years have elapsed for Babylon will I visit you and fulfil for you
promise to bring you back to this place" [Jeremiah 29:10]. [...] What,
then, is this third captivity? It is the bondage that came upon them in the
days of Antiochus Epiphanes. [...] Many years later Antiochus burned the
temple, laid waste the holy of holies, put an end to the sacrifices,
subjected the Jews, and destroyed their whole state. [...] When the
prophets predicted the other captivities, they spoke not only of the
captivity but also of the length of time it was appointed for each bondage
to last; for this present captivity, however, they set no time but, to the
contrary, said that the desolation would endure until the end." (Fifth
Homily Against the Jews)

Saint Bede the Venerable, Doctor (A. D. 735): "Further, the fig-tree was
dried up from the roots to show that the nation was impious not only for a
time and in part, but was to be smitten forever, not merely to be afflicted
by the attacks of nations from without and then to be freed, as had often
been done; or else it was dried up from the roots, to show that it was
stripped not only of the external favour of man, but altogether of the
favour of heaven within it; for it lost both its life in heaven, and its
on earth." (Saint Thomas Aquinas, Catena Aurea, Saint Mark 11:20)

"The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob, I have loved,
but Esau have I hated." (Romans 9:12-13)

"I have forsaken mine house, I have given mine heritage into the hands
of her enemies. Mine heritage is become to me as a lion in the forest; it
hath given forth its voice against me: therefore hath I hated it." (Jeremias

Saint John Chrysostom: "The Jew will live under the yoke of slavery
without end. God hates the Jews." (Six Homilies Against the Jews)

"I have loved you, saith the Lord. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us?
Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the Lord. Yet I loved Jacob, and I
hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the
dragons of the wilderness. Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished,
but we will return and build the desolate places; thus, saith the Lord of
Armies, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them,
The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the Lord hath
indignation forever. And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The Lord
will be magnified from the border of Israel." (Malachi 1:2-4)

They are forever base slaves, to the Church and to the nations. Their
subjugation has been effected through history, since they were first
enslaved by the Romans upon the destruction of Jerusalem; I shall quote
from the April 1956 edition of Father Feeney's The Point:

"Successive Roman emperors continued the suppression, and after the
break-up of the Empire, Jews came to be looked upon as the "property"
of the many feudal princes, who tolerated or expelled them at their
pleasure. [...] By the year 1006, ghettoes had already been established
in Bavaria, and the special "Jew tax" was everywhere exacted. This
followed upon the universally accepted principle (later taught by the
Church's eminent theologian Saint Thomas Aquinas) that all property of
the Jews belongs by right to the temporal ruler who suffers them in his
domains. The year 1511 saw the accession of the Emperor Frederick
Barbarossa, who referred to the Jews as "belonging to the royal
treasury," and expended them accordingly. [...] The right of citizenship,
withheld from Jews in every country during all Christian ages, was not
allowed to them until the triumph of the Masonic, anti-Christian
principles of the French Revolution in 1789. Thus, Jews were not granted
citizenship in France until 1791, in Holland until 1796, in Belgium until
1815, in Denmark until 1849, in England until 1858, in Switzerland until
1865, in Austria-Hungary until 1867, in Germany until 1870, and in
Russia until 1917."

Saint Thomas Aquinas: "Jews, in consequence of their sin, are or were
[depending on how you look at it] destined to perpetual slavery; so that
sovereigns of states may treat their goods as their own property; with the
sole proviso that they do not deprive them of all that is necessary to
sustain life." (On the Governance of the Jews; The Point, February 1955,
Christian Defense League, 1993, Arabi, LA)

Alfonso II of Aragon: "The Jews are the slaves of the crown and belong
exclusively to the royal treasury." (Town charters of Aragon and Castile,
twelfth century)

Holy Roman Emperor Louis IV of Bavaria (1287-1347): "You, the Jews,
your bodies - as well as your property - belong to us and to the empire,
and we can do to you, treat you, and handle you the way we want and
consider proper."

King Edward I of England (A. D. 1307): "Each Jew, after he be twelve
years old, shall pay three pence yearly at Easter of tax to the King, whose
bondsman he is; and this shall hold place as well for a woman as for a
man. [.] The King, whose bondsmen they are. [.] They are taxable to the
King as his bondsmen." (Statutum de Judeismo; The Statutes of the

Saint Bernard: "There is no more dishonourable or serious serfdom than
that of the Jews. They carry it with them wherever they go, and everywhere
they find their masters."

"And Noah said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be
unto his brethren." (Genesis 9:25)

"And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this,
thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon
thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life."
(Genesis 3:14)

"The great city, which is called spiritually Sodom and Egypt, where the
Lord also was crucified." (Apocalypse 11:8)

"May his blood be on us, and on our children." (Saint Matthew 27:25)

"The Jews who both killed the Lord JESUS, and the prophets, and have
persecuted us, and please not God, and are
adversaries to all men. [...] To fill up their sins always: for the wrath of
God is come upon them to the end."

7. The Jewish curse of being the subjugated outcast is effected through
national and ecclesiastical duty.

So, the Jews merited cursed Edomite temporal subjection forever when
they killed Christ; it is the will of God that they be forever subjugated
murdering His Son; that is the sentence that He has passed upon them.
That being so, as God has decreed that they be forever subjugated for
their crime, it is morally right and just that they be subjugated by the
nations in punishment: that is a matter of divinely ordained duty. The
same moral principle, that God has employed with the Jews, is
recognised also in society: criminals are, for crimes of sufficient gravity,
deprived of liberty, imprisoned, even subjugated to extraordinary
temporal control or hard labour, as just punishment: and if this is true for
petty criminals, how much more for the murderers of God? They have
forfeited their rights. They are slaves.

We may see a parallel with the original sin: we have all inherited Adam's
guilt, and have therefore been exposed to this, our place of exile, the
valley of struggle and death, as punishment, as well as to eternal
damnation unless we are saved; similarly the Jews have inherited the
guilt of their fathers, and as a punishment are to be exposed to their
subjugated exile: and whereas God effected the original exile with the
obedient assistance of the angels, and of "the flaming sword that turned
every way, to keep the way of the tree of life" (Genesis 3:24), even so, He
sets the evangelical Church and its temporal "sword", the nations, to
face the Jew in all directions, wherever he may flee, to ensure that he be
everywhere and forever subjugated in this, his deicidal exile, and kept
from assaulting the tree of life, even the vivifying Church and her
civilization. The Church, of course, recognises the moral duty to
subjugate the Jews:

Pope Innocent III: "Crucifiers of Christ ought to be held in continual
subjection." (Epistle to the Hierarchy of France)

Pope Innocent III: "It is fitting for Jews to serve Christians, but not for
Christians to serve Jews. On the contrary, the Jews, as servants rejected
by that Saviour Whose death they wickedly contrived, should recognize
themselves in fact and in creed the servants of those whom the death of
Christ has set free, even as it has rendered them bondmen." ("Etsi
Judaeos," a Decretal cited by Pope Benedict XIV)

He says that the Jews should recognise themselves to be "in fact and in
creed" subject to Christians. It is, "in creed" that they should be
subjugated: that is to say that it is a revealed doctrine taught by the
Church and professed by all the Faithful. And it "ought" to be "in fact"
too: which is to say that the subjugation ought to be actualised in society,
so that the Jew is forced to take his correct place as the subjugated
servant. The Church and the social institutions of the nations have the
duty to ensure that the Jew is the subjugated outcast for all time: in this
manner, God uses the dutiful Church and nations to punish him. As well
as "loving" the Jews of the Christian era, and wishing their conversion
and salvation, we must also "hate" them and seek their subjugation as
God wishes; as Saint John Chrysostom, Patriarch of Constantinople and
one of the four great eastern Doctors of the Church said:

"The Jews are the most worthless of all men. They are perfidious
murderers of Christ. They worship the devil; their religion is sickness. The
Jews are the odious assassins of Christ and for killing God there is no
expiation possible, no indulgence or pardon. Christians may never cease
vengeance, and the Jew must live in servitude forever. God always hated
the Jews. It is incumbent upon all Christians to hate the Jews." ("The
Point, 1958, Father Leonard Feeney, SJ", Christian Defence League,
1993, Arabi, LA)

"Will not I hate those who have hated Thee, O Lord? And will I not pine
away over Thine enemies? With a perfect hatred I will hate them, and they
are become enemies to me!" (Psalm 138:21-22)

The dutiful Church has historically done so; she looks to the state, her
civil arm and temporal sword, to enact the subjugation of the Jews:

Pope Gregory IX (A. D. 1241): "They ought to know the yoke of perpetual
enslavement because of their guilt. See to it that the perfidious Jews
never in the future become insolent, but that they always suffer publicly
the shame of their sin in servile fear." (Epistle to the Hierarchy of

He instructed the hierarchy to "see to it" that their merited slavery, their
temporal subjection, is for all time publicly actualised; such is a godly,
moral social order. Thus the Church and state have historically
cooperated to dutifully effect the desired temporal subjugation that the
Jews deserve for their guilt of deicide. The state has the duty to enact the
Church's ordinance: and in a correctly ordered society, the Church issues
directives as to the form their subjugation should take, and censures any
disobedient civil servants:

Third Lateran Council (A. D. 1179): "We declare that the evidence of
Christians is to be accepted against Jews in every case, since Jews
employ their own witnesses against Christians - and that those who
prefer Jews to Christians in this matter are to lie under anathema, since
Jews ought to be slaves to Christians and to be supported by them on the
grounds of humanity alone." (Canon 26)

We have seen that the Jew merited also to ever be an outcast as part of
his subjugation: he is in his fourth and permanent exile in slavery. The
dutiful Church has ever sought to enact that he is ever segregated. She
has ever forbidden her faithful to mix with the Jew:

Council of Elvira (A. D. 300): "Indeed, if anyone of the clergy or faithful
has taken a meal with the Jews, it is determined that, as a corrective
punishment, he is to abstain from Communion so that he may be
reformed." (Canon 50)

Council of Quinisext (A. D. 692): "Let no one in the priestly order nor any
layman eat the unleavened bread of the Jews, nor have any familiar
doings with them, nor summon them in illness, nor receive medicines
from them, nor bathe with them; but if anyone shall take in hand to do so,
if he is a cleric, let him be deposed, but if a layman, let him be cut off."

King Alfonso X, the Wise, of Castile: "Moreover, we forbid any Christian
man or woman to invite a Jew or a Jewess, or to accept an invitation from
them, to eat or drink together, or to drink any wine made by their hands.
We also order that no Jews shall dare to bathe in company with
Christians, and that no Christian shall take any medicine or cathartic
made by a Jew; but he can take it by the advice of some intelligent
person, only where it is made by a Christian, who knows and is familiar
with its ingredients." (Las siete partidas)

Pope Eugene IV (A. D. 1447): "We decree and order that from now on,
and for all time, Christians shall not eat or drink with the Jews, nor admit
them to feasts, nor cohabit with them, nor bathe with them. [.] They
cannot live among Christians, but in a certain street, separated and
segregated from Christians, and outside which they cannot under any
pretext have houses."

Blessed Bernardine of Feltre (A. D. 1494): "Canon law forbids all doings
with Jews."

"The following general ordinances were enforced throughout
Christendom, in order to guarantee that intercourse between Christians
and Jews be kept at an absolute minimum: Jews were denied citizenship.
They were forbidden to serve in the army, possess weapons, and attend
the universities. They were excluded from public baths while Catholics
were there and were forbidden to frequent public pleasure places. Jews
were never to give testimony as witnesses in court, and they were denied
membership in all trade corporations and guilds of artisans." (The Point)

"They were allowed to live only in certain wards of the larger towns, which
were known as "Jewries." They were required also to wear a special dress
or a badge of yellow cloth on the breast. They were considered to be living
in the country not by common right but by special consent of the king and
under his protection. They were subject, therefore, not to the common law
but to special regulations made for them by the king or his officers."
(Edward P. Cheyney, A Short History of England)

Blessed Pope Pius IX (A. D. 1878) was the last (for the time being) of our
popes to keep the Jews in ghettos in the Papal States; due to temporary
political contingencies, they have since been released, to the great
detriment of humanity.

8. The Jews are cursed to be perfidious.

So, the Jews merit ever to be subjugated outcasts, and the Church and
the nations have the moral and godly duty to enact that subjugation.
However, the nations sometimes do not listen to the Church, who wishes
to inform them of their duty; and were it just a matter of duty for the
nations to subjugate the Jews, they might well go free most of the time.
But the nations have another motive to enact their subjugation, even the
behaviour of the Jews, or more fundamentally, their cursed character
which accounts for that behaviour. For they are "the perfidious Jews", as
is declared in the traditional Good Friday liturgy, during the divers
collects: that perfidy encourages the nations to act dutifully:

"Let us pray for the perfidious Jews: that Our Lord and God may take
away the veil from their hearts, that they may know Our Lord Jesus
Christ"; in the original Latin this reads: "Oremus et pro perfidis Judaeis"
(Liber Usualis 1949, p. 703).

Amulo of Metz, Bishop of Lyon (ninth century): "When we pray we must
genuflect in order to symbolize our spiritual humility through this bodily
expression. But when we pray for the perfidious Jews, we do not
genuflect: for they genuflected in mockery. Let us demonstrate our
revulsion at this act by not genuflecting when we pray for the Jews."

"And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and
bowing their knees worshipped him. And when they had mocked him,
they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and
led him out to crucify him." (Saint Mark 15:19-20)

Pope Gregory IX: "See to it that the perfidious Jews never in the future
become insolent." (Epistle to the Hierarchy of Germany)

The Jews are perfidious. "Perfidy" is "treachery" and "faithlessness".
The Collins Gem Latin Dictionary (1996) says that "perfidia" means
"treachery, dishonesty", and that "perfidus" means "treacherous,
faithless"; and the Chambers Twentieth Century Dictionary (1960) says
that "perfidious" means "faithless, unfaithful, basely violating faith".
"The perfidious Jews" are both infidels and traitors, with the principal
emphasis being on the treachery that underpins their infidelity. They are
perfidious because of their guilt:

Saint John Chrysostom: "They are [...] perfidious [...] Why are the Jews
degenerate? Because of their hateful assassination of Christ. This
supreme crime lies at the root of their degradation and woes." (Six
Homilies Against the Jews)

The causative relation between their deicide and their perfidy is a guilt to
punishment relation: they corporately have the guilt of perfidious deicide,
and perfidy is a punishment that God has given them up to for that guilt.

Saint Thomas Aquinas: ""Then they cried all again, saying: Not this man,
but Barabbas." Inasmuch then as they abandoned the Saviour, and
sought out a robber, to this day the devil practices his robberies upon
them. The name Barabbas signifies, The son of their master, ie. The devil;
Barabbas' master in his wickedness, and the Jews' master in their
perfidy." (Catena Aurea, Saint Mark 18:40)

This also may be understood by a comparison with the original sin. When
Adam sinned against God, his sin was one of calling into question what
God had revealed and of disobedience; his punishment was according to
his sin. He was given up to spiritual blindness, no longer knowing what
God had revealed; and he was weakened in his ability to obey God. His
former knowledge, and strength and healthiness of will, in which he had
been constituted, were dependent upon the grace which elevated his
nature; when much of this unmerited grace was withdrawn in punishment
for his sin, his intellect was obscured, particularly in his loss of
knowledge of divine matters, and his free will was weakened and
debased in its powers with the addition of concupiscence, a will to
disobedience. He was given up to the condition which he freely chose;
such is the justice of God: and so are his descendants, who have
inherited his guilt: they are given up to his chosen condition.

Council of Trent: "The first man Adam, when he had transgressed the
commandment of God in Paradise, immediately lost his holiness and the
justice in which he had been established. [.] And through that offence of
prevarication the entire Adam was transformed in body and soul for the
worse. [.] The sanctity and justice, received from God, which he lost [.]
for us also." (Denz. 788-89)

"The imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth." (Genesis 8:21)

"By one man's disobedience, many were made sinners." (Romans 5:19)

"The children of disobedience, among whom also we all had our
conversation in times past in the lusts of the flesh, fulfilling the desires
the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even
as the others. [.] Other nations walk in the vanity of their mind, having
the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through
the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart. [.]
The old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts."
(Ephesians 2:2-4; 4:17-18, 22)

So it is with the Jews. Their grievous sin was to betray Christ out of
jealousy, and to have Him killed, He to Whom they owed so much; it was
terrible ungrateful treachery, as we see in the Good Friday Reproaches:

"O my people, what have I done to you, or in what have I offended you?
Answer me. Because I led you out of the land of Egypt, you have prepared
a cross for your saviour. [...] Because I led you through the desert for
years, and fed you with manna, and brought you into a land exceedingly
good, you have prepared a cross for your saviour. [...] What more ought I
to have done for you than I have done? I planted you, indeed, as my most
beautiful vineyard and you have become excessively bitter to me. For in
my thirst you have given me vinegar to drink, and with a lance you have
pierced the side of your saviour. [...] For your sake I scourged Egypt
through its first-born; and you have scourged me and betrayed me. O my
people, what have I done to you; wherein have I offended you? Answer
me. I led you out of Egypt and drowned Pharao in the Red Sea; and you
have betrayed me to the chief priests. O my people, what [...] I opened
the sea before you, and you have opened my side with a lance. O my
people, what [...] I went before you in a pillar of cloud; and you have led
me before the judgement-seat of Pilate. O my people, what [...] I fed you
with manner in the desert; and you heaped blows and scourges upon me.
O my people, what [...] I gave you the water of salvation from the rock to
drink; and you have given me gall and vinegar. O my people, what [...] For
your sakes I struck the kings of the Chanaanites; and you have struck my
head with a reed. O my people, what [...] I gave you a royal sceptre; and
you have put on my head a crown of thorns. O my people, what [...] I have
exalted you with great strength; and you have hung me on the gibbet of
the cross. O my people, what have I done to you, or in what have I
offended you? Answer me." (cf. Maryknoll Missal, 1960, pp. 354-356)

Saint Thomas Aquinas: "After the founding of the Church, Judaea was to
be punished for her treachery." (Catena Aurea, Saint Mark 13:1)

The Jews have inherited both the guilt and the punishment of treacherous
deicide from their fathers: as part of the punishment, they are given up to
the grievous perfidy that they corporately chose when they betrayed
Christ. Grace was not wholly withdrawn for the original sin, some
remained; the grace which helps man to be trustworthy, grateful, friendly
- not perfidious - has been further withdrawn from the Jews. They are now
given over to their natural perfidy, even as others have been given up to
their sinful tendencies: "Wherefore God also gave them up unto
uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts." (Romans 1:24)
"Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven."
(Acts 7:42)

Saint Thomas Aquinas explained the sort of thing, when answering the
question of whether one sin can be the punishment of another:

"Sin can be the punishment of sin accidentally [in distinction from its
"essential" origin in free will] in three ways. First, when one sin is the
cause of another, by removing an impediment thereto. For passions,
temptations of the devil, and the like are the causes of sin, but are
impeded by the help of Divine grace, which is withdrawn on account of
sin. Wherefore, since the withdrawal of grace is a punishment, and is
from God, the result is that the sin which ensures from this is also a
punishment accidentally. It is in this sense that the Apostle speaks
(Romans 1:24) when he says: Wherefore God gave them up to the desires
of their heart, ie. to their passions; because, to wit, when men are
deprived of the help of Divine grace, they are overcome by their passions.
In this way, sin is always said to be the result of a preceding sin."
(Summa Theologica I, II, 87, 2)

Saint Bonaventure, Doctor (A. D. 1274): "There are some sins that are
both sins and penalties of sins. Narrowly considered, these are the sins
that imply pain and sorrow, such as envy, sloth, and the like; more
broadly considered, they are the sins that imply either the depraving of
nature or something shameful, such as those by which the sinner is given
up to a reprobate sense (Romans 1:28); and in a general view, they are
those that "occur between the first act of unfaithfulness and the final
punishment of hell. These are called both sins and the penalties of sins,"
for, as Gregory says, "crimes are punished with further crimes.""
(Breviloquium 3:10)

Saint Augustine: "Let us not suppose, then, that human nature cannot be
corrupted by sin, but rather, believing, from the inspired Scriptures, that
it is corrupted by sin, let our inquiry be how this could possibly have come
about. [...] And yet, owing to these deeds of theirs, which, although
coming in the way of punishment, were none the less sins, (he goes on to
say) "Wherefore God gave them up to uncleanness, through the lusts of
their own hearts." [...] Here is the punishment of iniquity, which is itself
iniquity. [...] Observe how often it happens that the very punishment
which God inflicts begets other sins as its natural offspring." (On Nature
and Grace 20, 22)

The Jews are given up to their Good Friday treachery, having "the
punishment of iniquity, which is itself iniquity." We see the prophecy of
King David further fulfilled, in them being giving up to perfidious sin for
their iniquity:

Saint Bridget of Sweeden (A. D. 1373): "The Jews nailed Thy sacred
hands and feet to the cross by blow after blow with big blunt nails, and
not finding Thee in a pitiable enough state to satisfy their rage, they
enlarged Thy wounds, and added pain to pain, and with indescribable
cruelty stretched Thy body on the cross, pulled Thee from all sides, thus
dislocating Thy limbs." (Prayers given to her by Our Lord)

"For they persecuted him whom thou hast smitten; and they have added
to the grief of my wounds. Add iniquity unto their iniquity, and let them
not enter into thy justice." (Psalm 68:26-27)

"The Jews [...] are adversaries to all men. [...] To fill up their sins
for the wrath of God is come upon them to the end." (I Thessalonians

The "wrath of God", their punishment, which has come "come upon
them to the end" of time, is that they be given up to perfidy, to treachery
by which they are "adversaries to all men" and which leads them to "fill
up their sins always", to commit perfidious sin; thereby their deicide is
"punished with further crimes", and "iniquity is added unto their

"And Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give her the cup
of the wine of his fierce wrath. [.] For her sins have reached even to
heaven, and the Lord has remembered her iniquities. Render to her as
she also rendered, and give her the double according to her works; in the
cup that she has mixed, mix for her double." (Apocalypse 16:9; 18:5-6)

They are traitors. Hence, as we saw Saint Augustine say: "Judas is the
image of the Jewish people [...] they bear the guilt for the death of the
Saviour, for through their fathers they have killed Christ"; their image is
even "Judas Iscariot, which was the traitor." (Saint Luke 6:16)

"And while he was yet speaking, Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, came
and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests
and the scribes and the elders. Now his betrayer had given them a sign,
saying, Whomsoever I kiss, that is he; lay hold of him, and lead him safely
away. [...] And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a
consultation with the elders, the scribes and the whole sanhedrin. And
they bound Jesus and led him away, and they betrayed [tradiderunt] him
to Pilate." (St. Mark 14:43-44; 15:1)

"Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist
the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have
not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which showed
before the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the
betrayers and murderers; who have received the law by the disposition of
angels, and have not kept it." (Acts 7:51-3)

"O my people, what have I done to you; wherein have I offended you?
Answer me. I led you out of Egypt and drowned Pharao in the Red Sea;
and you have betrayed me to the chief priests." (Good Friday

Saint Jerome: "Whom do you suppose are the sons of Judas? The Jews.
The Jews take their name, not from Judah who was a holy man, but from
the betrayer. [.] The synagogue was divorced by the Saviour and became
the wife of Judas, the betrayer." (Homily)

It is in perfidy, treachery, that the Jews have sinned in murdering Christ;
is with that perfidious act that they are guilty: and it is to that perfidy
they are given up: wherefore, Judas "the traitor" is the image of the Jews,
the Jew who betrayed Christ even unto the death of the cross, even as
they corporately betrayed him.

9. The Jews are cursed to be perfidious victimisers, corrupters and

The Jews are ever deceptively treacherous, even treacherous deicides:

Pope Stephen III (A. D. 757 or 772?): "With great sorrow and mortal
anxiety, We have heard that the Jews have in a Christian land the same
rights as Christians, that Christian men and women live under the same
roof with these traitors and defile their souls day and night with
blasphemies." (Epistle to the Bishop of Norbonne)

Their perfidy is not nominal, any more than was Adam's falleness. It is
real; perfidy is a strong tendency within them that tends to manifest in
perfidious deeds; it is a very strong tendency, for the crucifixion was a
terrible sin, as Saint Augustine wrote:

"Hast thou killed Christ? There is not than that deed any worse, because
also than Christ there is nothing better. What a dreadful thing is it to
Christ! Yet the Jews killed Him." (On the Creed 15)

And for such a grave sin, the depth of perfidy to which they have been
given up is awful; it is now part of their nature, a basic instinct for

Saint Agobard: "Jews are cursed and covered with malediction as by a
cloak. The curse has penetrated them like water in their bowels and oil in
their bones. They are cursed in the city and cursed in the country."

This perfidious wickedness has been described untold times by the
Church, in words both graphic and plain:

Pope Gregory IX: "Ungrateful for favours and forgetful of benefits, the
Jews return insult for kindness and impious contempt for goodness."
(Epistle to the Hierarchy of Germany)

Fourth Lateran Council (A. D. 1215): "The more the Christian religion is
restrained from usurious practices, so much the more does the perfidy of
the Jews grow in these matters."

Pope Innocent III: "When Jews are admitted out of pity into familiar
intercourse with Christians, they repay their hosts, according to the
popular proverb, after the fashion of the rat hidden in the sack, or the
snake in the bosom, or of the burning brand in one's lap."

"Wherefore ye be witnesses against yourselves, that you are the sons of
them that killed the prophets. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
Ye serpents! ye generation of vipers!" (Saint Matthew 23)

The perfidy of the Jews was so well known in the past, that there was a
"popular proverb" about it; of course, those who "repay their hosts" as a
"rat, snake or burning brand", are extremely dangerous and harmful,
even ruinous or deadly; they were infamous for it:

Father Ernardino of Feltro (15th Century Italian): "Jewish usurers bleed
the poor to death and grow fat on their substance, and I who live on alms,
who feed on the bread of the poor, shall I then be mute before outraged
charity? Dogs bark to protect those who feed them, and I, who am fed by
the poor, shall I see them robbed of what belongs to them and keep
silent?" (E. Flornoy, Le Bienbeureux Bernardin the Feltre )

Pope Saint Pius V (A. D. 1572): "Besides usury, through which Jews
everywhere have sucked dry the property of impoverished Christians, they
are accomplices of thieves and robbers." (The Jewish Race)

Pope Benedict XIV (A. D. 1758): "Furthermore, by means of their
particular practice of commerce, they amass a great store of money and
then by an exorbitant rate of interest utterly destroy the wealth and
inheritance of Christians." (A Quo Primum)

"And he overthrew the tables of the moneychangers. [.] And he said
unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but
you have made it a den of thieves. And the blind and the lame came to
him in the temple and he healed them. [.] Woe unto you, scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence
make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. [.]
Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the
temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple,
he is a debtor." (Saint Matthew 21:12-14; 23)

"Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief
priests, and said to them: What will you give me, and I will deliver him
unto you? And they appointed him thirty pieces of silver. And from
thenceforth he sought opportunity to betray him." (Saint Matthew 26:14-

Let us elaborate upon their perfidy a little, in the context of the passages
we have just seen about their ruinous usury, and their defiling of souls.
We saw in the Good Friday Reproaches above, that the Jews are
corporately and individually responsible for the treacherous actions of all
the Jews (and those acts of the Romans, which they caused) surrounding
the Lord's death. As they are given up to the treachery of the various Jews
at the crucifixion, we may therefore understand their condition in some
detail by examining the Biblical and patristic accounts of that treachery.
Abstracting from the details of the events that day, we may say that their
crime was threefold in essence: firstly, and above all, they made Christ
their victim and subjected him to ruination; secondly, they endeavoured
to make everyone else partners in their crime and to reduce them to their
own baseness; and they sinned in their infidelity, their unbelief in Christ
whose coming had for so long been foretold to them.

And this is accordingly the threefold essence of their ongoing perfidy, as
they ever relive their Good Friday treachery to which they are given up.
Firstly, they seek to make all their victims, betrayed, mocked and ruined,
like they did with Christ; this they do through ruthless exploitation and
ruination; that is what we just saw with their usury above, although we
shall see it more fully later in their genocide and subversion. Whereas
they attacked Christ then, they now attack Him in His mystical body, the
Church; and they attack the nations too, "adversaries of all men", all the
while mocking and despising, having contempt for all goodness. In
particular they crave ill-gotten money, reliving Judas' specific mode of
treachery, and so "bleed the poor to death". Thus at the crucifixion, thus

"The terrors of death came upon Me. Fear and trembling have come upon
Me, and darkness has covered Me. [.] Bring them down, O Lord, and
divide their tongues: for I have seen iniquity and reviling in the city.
iniquity unto their iniquity. Psalm 68] Iniquity will go around it upon its
walls day and night. And labour is in its midst and injustice. And usury
and deceit do not depart from their streets. For if My enemy had reviled
Me, indeed, I would have endured it. And if he who hated Me had spoken
great things against Me, perhaps I would have hidden Myself from him.
But thou, O man of My thoughts, My guide and My familiar, who ate sweet
foods with Me, with whom I walked in the house of God with consort. [.]
Jesus answered: He it is to whom I shall reach bread dipped. And when he
had dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot. [.] Thirty pieces of
silver." (Psalm 54; Saint John 13:26; Saint Matthew 26:15)

Secondly, they seek to reduce everyone to their own base viciousness and
involve them in their criminality, as they did with the Romans, Pontius
and the rest; thus they corrupt and debase everyone through spreading
their infidelity and immorality and by undermining decency and order (as
they now do through their control of the "entertainments and news
media"); we just saw papal warning of that too, and we shall see more.

"She has fallen, Babylon the great, who of the wine of the wrath of her
immorality has given all the nations to drink. [.] And upon her forehead a
name written - a mystery - Babylon the great, the mother of the
harlotries and of the abominations of the earth. And I saw the woman
drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of
JESUS. [.] For true and just are his judgements, who has judged the
great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and has
avenged the blood of his servants at her hands." (Apocalypse 14:8;
17:5-6; 19:2)

They inevitably contaminate their hosts through ill example and by
constantly providing the occasion, the opportunity of sin; and they also
deliberately subvert the religious, moral and cultural standards of their
hosts, and encourage ideological 'tolerance' of all infidelity and
baseness, so that they will be effective in their perfidy and tolerated in
their depravity; they ruin their hosts' souls as well as their societies.
Hence, they are not truly contributors who build up the common good,
but rather they exploit, corrupt and tear down; they do not help in the
creation of civilization, but are destructive parasites that prey through

And then there are the details of the treachery of the various Jews on
Good Friday, to which they are given up. To attempt a proper, thorough
analysis of the vices involved would be to attempt the sort of detailed
exposition of the various vices which is found in the voluminous Summa
Theologica; and one may consult that text with profit. We shall only note
here Judas' callous deceit, scheming, contempt for friendliness, trust and
love, as he betrayed the Lord with a kiss for 30 pieces of silver, as well
his gross ingratitude, and base callous greed. Also there is the envy of the
chief priests and their contempt for the responsibilities of office; their
complete moral abandon in the face of every privilege and opportunity;
their hypocrisy and pretence; their disregard or hatred of the good that
men do and say; their deception and perversion of justice. And there is
their sheer viciousness, cruelty and destruction; their joy in the ridicule
of, and attempted extinction of, what is good and innocent. All Jews are
given up to these treacherous vices and more; manifold perfidy is the
universal, unchanging, Jewish character. Every Jew is reliving Good Friday
every day. They were lying, murderous, scheming traitors then, and they
are lying, murderous, scheming traitors now, trying to betray everyone.

And as they then slandered with false charges the innocent, even Christ,
who spoke against their perfidy, even so it is now: they slander those who
recognize or oppose their perfidy, so as to try to obscure honest and
dutiful criticism with their slanderous lying cries of "hatred"; they would
deceptively hide their treacherous character and try to make themselves
appear innocent and good. The Lord called it "hypocrisy" when he
characterized the deicidal Jews by means of the Pharisees whose
doctrines they now revere as the Talmud, and whose deicidal perfidy they
have inherited:

"Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: because you are like to
whited sepulchres, which outwardly appear to men beautiful, but within
are full of dead men's bones, and of all filthiness. So you also outwardly
indeed appear to men just; but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and
iniquity. [...] You are the sons of them that killed the prophets. Fill ye
then the measure of your fathers. [.] Verily I say unto you, all these
things [all these vices] shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem,
Jersusalem, thou that killest the prophets!" (Saint Matthew 23)

Being "the sons of those who killed the prophets" (and Christ), and
being given up to the most heinous perfidy, the Jews have inherited all of
the vices that Our Lord enumerated as recounted in Saint Matthew 23 (as
well as all the vices of Good Friday: indeed those of all their vicious
"fathers"), which have "all come upon" them: hypocrisy, usury,
blindness and all the rest: and thereby they "fill up the measure of their
fathers" in full imitation of the scribes and Pharisees and the murderers
of the Prophets of old. Every Jew is, as Our Lord put it, a "fool and
a "hypocrite", a "serpent" and a "viper", a "blind guide", a devourer of
"widows' houses", a "child of hell"; he was prophetically talking about
all of them. All perfidy is "upon them", every vice ever entertained by any
of their dead "fathers", wherefore they "are full of dead men's bones,
and of all filthiness." Their souls are as black as night. They are the
betrayers, the deceivers, schemers, destroyers, corrupters, even "the
perfidious Jews"; their dealings are cursed with their perfidy, which taints
all they do:

"Thou shalt be cursed in the city, and shalt be cursed in the field. Cursed
shalt thou be in thy basket and thy store. Cursed shall be the fruit of thy
body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of
thy sheep. Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt
thou be when thou goest out." (Deuteronomy 28:16-9)

As the Jews have inherited so many and so grave vices, they are given up
to be thoroughly degenerate for their deicidal sin:

Saint John Chrysostom: "How dare Christians have the slightest doings
with Jews, those most miserable of all men. They are lustful, rapacious,
greedy, perfidious bandits, pests of the universe. Indeed, an entire day
would not suffice to tell of all their rapine, their avarice, their
deception of
the poor, their thievery, and their huckstering. Are they not inveterate
murderers, destroyers, men possessed by the devil? Jews are impure and
impious, and their synagogue is a house of prostitution, a lair of beasts, a
place of shame and ridicule, the domicile of the devil, as is also the soul
of the Jew. As a matter of fact, Jews worship the devil: their rites are
criminal and unchaste; their religion a disease; their synagogue an
assembly of crooks, a den of thieves, a cavern of devils, an abyss of
perdition! Why are the Jews degenerate? Because of their hateful
assassination of Christ. This supreme crime lies at the root of their
degradation and woes. The rejection and the dispersion of the Jews was
the work of God and because of His absolute abandonment of the Jews.
Thus, the Jew will live under the yoke of slavery without end. God hates
the Jews, and on Judgement Day He will say to those who sympathise with
them: "Depart from me, for you have had doings with My murderers!"
Flee, then, from their assemblies, fly from their houses, and, far from
venerating the synagogue, hold it in hatred and aversion." (Six Homilies
Against the Jews)

Saint John wrote there that their deicide "lies at the root" of their
multifarious degeneracy which he had just described: to such vice they
are given up. We see that other teachers of the Faith stated the same

Pope Innocent IV (A. D. 1254): "The Jews, from whose hearts Our Saviour
did not remove the veil because of their enormous crimes but caused
them justly to continue in their blindness, commit acts of shame which
engender astonishment in those who hear, and terror in those who
discover it." (The Wicked Perfidy of the Jews)

Saint Felix of Toledo: "It is known that the Jewish people are polluted
with wickedness, blasphemy, and the shedding of the blood of Jesus
Christ so that their wickedness has no limit." ("On the Condemnation of
the Jews," Council XVII of Toledo, Spain, Canon 8).

Saint Gregory of Nyssa (A. D. 394): "Jews are slayers of the Lord,
murderers of the prophets, adversaries of God, haters of God, men who
show contempt for the law, foes of grace, advocates of the devil, brood of
vipers, slanderers, scoffers, men whose minds are in darkness, leaven of
the Pharisees, assemblies of demons, sinners, wicked men, stoners and
haters of righteousness." (Oration on the Resurrection of Christ)

Saint Benedict Center wrote of the fact in the 1950s, as follows:

"What is wrong with the Jews? This question has its answer in an event
that happened long ago, when a frenzied Jerusalem mob, standing in the
courtyard of the city's Roman governor, hurled at the heavens its defiant
shout, "His blood be upon us and upon our children." [...] The Jews'
baseness and sensuality and perpetual intrigue, their insatiable
ambition, their open contempt for all standards of decency and order - all
these malignities, these natural reasons for their being hated, spring
from and are sustained by the central and supernatural fact that they are
cursed." (The Point, April 1956)

They are perfidious forever:

Saint John Chrysostom: "They have slain Christ and the prophets, they
insult God, they are the common enemies of the world, they banish us,
when coming for their salvation. What wonder if they have done such
things also to you, when they have done them even in Judaea?
"Forbidding us to speak to the gentiles, that they might be saved." It is a
mark of envy therefore to hinder the salvation of all. "To fill up their
always. But the wrath is come upon them unto the end [in finem]." [I
Thessalonians 2:15] What is "to the end"? These things are no longer
like the former. There is no return back, no limit. But the wrath is nigh at
hand." (On Thessalonians, Homily III)

"And the Lord set a mark upon Cain." (Genesis 4:15)

10. The Jews are cursed to be perfidious murderers.

The Jew is, moreover, given up to be a treacherous murderer, for his
deicide, pursuing his victimization of the nations to its conclusion. We
have seen that he has been given up to the treacherous disposition that
he chose at the crucifixion: that is a also a murderous perfidy, for he
betrayed Christ even unto death; to such murderous perfidy, the Jew is
given up; he is given up to "fill up the measure of his fathers" "who killed
the prophets" (Saint Matthew 23). He walks the earth as the murderous

Esau, Ishmael and Joseph's brothers are also figures of the Jews in their
murderous perfidy. Although, Esau did not kill Jacob his brother,
nevertheless, in his anger and his jealousy, he resolved to slay him in
vengeance for having lost his heritage to him:

"And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father
blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my
father are at hand; then I will slay my brother Jacob." (Genesis 27:41)

According to type, like as Esau was murderous toward his younger
brother, even so the envious Jew particularly hates the Church, the
younger people to whom he has lost his heritage, and seeks to destroy
her and her children signified by Abel, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph; but they
are also "adversaries to all men. [...] To fill up their sins always." (I
Thessalonians 2:16)

Saint Irenaeus: "In the next place, Jacob received the rights of the first-
born, when his brother looked on them with contempt; even as also the
younger nation received Him, Christ, the first-begotten, when the elder
nation rejected Him, saying, "We have no king but Caesar." But in Christ
is every blessing, and therefore the latter people has snatched away the
blessings of the former from the Father, just as Jacob took away the
blessing of Esau. For which cause his brother suffered the plots and
persecutions of a brother, just as the Church suffers this self-same thing
from the Jews." (Against the Heresies IV:21)

Saint Justin Martyr (A. D. 165): "Jacob was hated for all time by his
brother; and we now, and Our Lord Himself, are hated by you and all
men." (Dialogue with Trypho the Jew: 134)

Saint Hippolytus: "Isaac conveys a figure of God the Father; Rebecca of
the Holy Spirit; Esau of the first people and the devil; Jacob of the
or of Christ. [...] Because iniquity is opposed to righteousness, Esau is
excited to strife, and meditates death deceitfully, saying in his heart,
the days of mourning for my father come on, and I will slay my brother
Jacob." The devil, who previously exhibited the fratricidal Jews by
anticipation in Cain, makes the most manifest disclosure of them now in
Esau, showing also the time of the murder." (Fragment from Commentary
on Genesis; preserved in Saint Jerome's Letter 36, to Pope Damasus.)

"Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the
son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours. And when
his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren,
they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him. And Joseph
dreamed a dream, and he told it unto his brethren: and they hated him
yet the more. [.] And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer
cometh. Come now therefore, and let us slay him." (Genesis 37:3-5, 18-

"Which things are said by an allegory; for these are the two testaments.
[.] Now we brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as
then he, that was born according to the flesh, persecuted him that was
born after the Spirit; so also it is now." (Galatians 4:24, 28-29)

Saint Hilary of Poitiers (A. D. 368): "The Jews are always seething to
slaughter the Christian people." (Tractus Mysteriorum; The Point,
September 1955)

Let us consider the above words carefully.

Saint Augustine: "And this murderer is cursed by the Church; that is, the
Church admits and avows the curse pronounced by the Apostle:
"Whoever are of the works of the law are under the curse of the law.""
(Reply to Faustinus the Manichaean 12:11)

Saint John Chrysostom: "Are they not inveterate murderers, destroyers,
men possessed by the devil?" (Six Homilies Against the Jews)

Saint Athanasius: "But through vice a man goes out from the presence of
the Lord; as Cain when he had slain his brother, went out, as far as his
will was concerned, from before the face of God. But of the devil the
scripture beareth witness, that the devil went out from before God, and
smote Job with sore boils. For this is the characteristic of those who go
out from before God - to smite and to injure the men of God. And this is
the characteristic of those who fall away from the faith - to injure and
persecute the faithful. [...] And if they had examined with their
understanding the things which were written, they would not have
carefully fulfilled the prophesies which were against themselves, so as for
their city to be now desolate, grace being taken from them, and they
themselves without the law, being called no longer children but
strangers. [...] But those Jews who had conspired against the Lord died,
having rejoiced a very little in these temporal things, and having fallen
away from those which are eternal. [...] It is not right to fear if the gang
which contended with Christ, should conspire against godliness." (Letter
X, Easter 338)

The Fathers were quite casual in characterizing the Jew generically as
being murderous: it was an obvious fact, which needed no great labours
to be established. Their murderous perfidy is not nominal, but a very
strong tendency within them, which tends to manifest in murderous deed.
Our Lord prophesied that murderous perfidy would "come upon" them,
and that they would act upon their murderous tendency, which was in
part narrated in the Book of Acts:

"Wherefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the sons of
them that killed the prophets. Fill ye up then, the measure of you fathers.
[.] Therefore behold I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes:
and some of them you will put to death and crucify, and some you will
scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city. That upon
you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth. [.] All these
things [all this perfidy] shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem!"
(Saint Matthew 23)

"The deacon Saint Stephen, the first martyr of the Church, is the hero of
chapters six and seven. Just before the Jews take up their stones to
silence him, Stephen concludes his summary of the Jewish situation [.]
The Acts of the Apostles' ninth chapter introduces us to Saint Paul, who
after his miraculous conversion, tries to convert the Jews at Damascus,
who in turn try to kill him. [.] This brings us to chapter twelve, which
begins with the information that King Herod, "killed James the brother of
John with the sword, and seeing that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to
take Peter up also." [.] Again, in chapter fourteen, we read about the
near stoning of Saint Paul at Iconium, and the Jews' pursuit of him
throughout Lycaonia, until finally he is mercilessly beaten, dragged out
into a country place, and abandoned as dead. Restored to his work, he is
of course re-exposed to the Jewish plots against him. [.] From chapters
twenty-one to twenty-eight, Saint Paul is a prisoner of the government,
with new and bitter complaints constantly being brought against him by
the Jews." (The Point, June 1957)

Saint Justin Martyr: "For you have not now the power to lay hands upon
us, on account of those who now have the mastery. But as often as you
could, you did so. [.] For other nations have not inflicted on us and on
Christ this wrong to such an extent as you have, who in very deed are the
authors of this wicked prejudice against the Just One, and us who hold by
Him. [.] At that time you selected and sent from Jerusalem chosen men
through all the land to tell that "the godless heresy of the Christians"
had sprung up, and to publish those things that all they who knew us not
speak against us. So that you are the cause not only of your own
unrighteousness, but in fact of that of all other men." (Dialogue with
Trypho the Jew 16, 17)

"And upon her forehead a name written - a mystery - Babylon the great,
the mother of the harlotries and of the abominations of the earth. And I
saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of
the martyrs of JESUS." (Apocalypse 17:6)

An estimated 13,000,000 million Catholics were slaughtered during the
first three centuries of the Church, mainly by the Romans, but at the
instigation of the Jews who pressurised them and encouraged them, as
we read in the writings of the early Christians.

The story has been the same ever since, as the cursed Edomite-Cainite
Jew "seethes" for blood. Indeed, they are perpetually genocidal. Their
book, the Talmud, which they read in their synagogues instead of the Holy
Bible, openly teaches genocide of all the nations, as has previously been
well known, and is again becoming known. At least four popes to my
knowledge have condemned its genocidal ranting; to wit, Popes Paul IV,
Clement VIII, Alexander VIII and Julius III. And for good reason; the Jews
are credited with effecting through their murderous, treacherous
schemes: the "French Revolution" against the Church, World Wars One
and Two, and the "Russian Revolution", with over 100 million dead in a
century. Only the Crusade of ordinary Catholics and the return from
Morocco of the Defender of the Faith, the "fascist" Great General
Francisco Franco saved Spain from a similar fate in the Spanish-Jewish
War of 1936, though 11 bishops and 16750 priests were first murdered
in first seven months of fighting as reported by the Spanish hierarchy.
Jewish control of international Communism is well documented, and their
control of freemasonry is also well known, as is their manipulation of
Western governments over the last couple of centuries. They
treacherously work against all to try to bring about their downfall and
ruin; they deliberately subvert societies and spread the degeneracy to
which they are given up. They seek to mockingly drag the nations to the
cross, ever reliving the murderous perfidy of Good Friday, to which they
are given up, seeking blood, whether of Catholic children straying from
their mothers, such as Saint William of Norwich, little Saint Hugh of
Lincoln and dozens of other cases reported across the Christian world
through centuries - or of whole populations at the hands of Jewish

Antiochus Strategos of Palestine: "How many souls were slain in the
reservoir of Mamel! How many perished of hunger and thirst! How many
priests and monks were massacred by the sword! How many infants were
crushed under foot, or perished by hunger and thirst, or languished
through fear and horror of the foe! How many maidens, refusing their
abominable outrages, were given over to death by the enemy! How many
parents perished on top of their own children! How many of the people
were bought up by the Jews and butchered, and became confessors of
Christ! How many persons, fathers, mothers, and tender infants, having
concealed themselves in fosses and cisterns, perished of darkness and
hunger! How many fled into the Church of the Anastasis, into that of Sion
and other churches, and were therein massacred and consumed with
fire! Who can count the multitude of the corpses of those who were
massacred in Jerusalem?" (Witness of the Sack of Jerusalem, A. D. 614,
and its Aftermath)

"From the moment the Spanish Civil War began in July, 1936, it was
evident that world Jewry was determined that the Communist forces
should triumph. Every resource of Jewish wealth and propaganda was
mobilized for a total assault. From every nation, Jews flocked to Spain to
organize and direct operations." (The Point, November 1957)

"And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up
against Abel, his brother, and killed him." (Genesis 4:8)

"The Jews were now free to indulge in their most fervent fantasies of
mass murder of helpless victims. Christians were dragged from their
beds, tortured and killed. Some were actually sliced to pieces, bit by bit,
while others were branded with hot irons, their eyes poked out to induce
unbearable pain. Others were placed in boxes with only their heads,
hands and legs sticking out. Then hungry rats were placed in the boxes to
gnaw upon their bodies. Some were nailed to the ceiling by their fingers
or by their feet, and left hanging until they died of exhaustion. Others
were chained to the floor and left hanging until they died of exhaustion.
Others were chained to the floor and hot lead poured into their mouths.
Many were tied to horses and dragged through the streets of the city,
while Jewish mobs attacked them with rocks and kicked them to death.
Christian mothers were taken to the public square and their babies
snatched from their arms. A red Jewish terrorist would take the baby, hold
it by the feet, head downward and demand that the Christian mother
deny Christ. If she would not, he would toss the baby into the air, and
another member of the mob would rush forward and catch it on the tip of
his bayonet. Pregnant Christian women were chained to trees and their
babies cut out of their bodies. There were many places of public
execution in Russia during the days of the revolution, one of which was
described by the American Rohrbach Commission: "The whole cement
floor of the execution hall of the Jewish Cheka of Kiev was flooded with
blood; it formed a level of several inches. It was a horrible mixture of
blood, brains and pieces of skull. All the walls were bespattered with
blood. Pieces of brains and of scalps were sticking to them. A gutter of
25 centimeters wide by 25 centimeters deep and about 10 meters long
was along its length full to the top with blood. Some bodies were
disemboweled, others had limbs chopped off, some were literally hacked
to pieces. Some had their eyes put out, the head, face and neck and
trunk were covered with deep wounds. Further on, we found a corpse with
a wedge driven into its chest. Some had no tongues. In a corner we
discovered a quantity of dismembered arms and legs belonging to no
bodies that we could locate."" (Defender Magazine, October 1933)

"And the Lord God said unto the serpent [.] And I will put enmity
between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed. [.]
You are of your father, the devil, and the desires of your father you will

The murderous, deicidal Jews are under the influence of the devil; they
are the enactors of his gravest crime and are now given up to forever
serve him as his "chosen people"; they are his murderous, treacherous
children. They are, further, possessed by the devil and by the host of

"And I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not,
but are the synagogue of Satan. [.] Them of the synagogue of Satan,
which say that they are Jews, and are not, but do lie." (Apocalypse 2:9;

Saint Cyprian: "No longer may they call God their Father, because the
Lord confounds and refutes them, saying: "your father is the devil". O
sinful nation, O people weighed down with guilt." (The Lord's Prayer)

Saint Thomas Aquinas: "All were one city and one body of the devil."
(Catena Aurea, Saint Matthew 23:36)

Saint Thomas Aquinas: ""Then they cried all again, saying: Not this man,
but Barabbas." Inasmuch then as they abandoned the Saviour, and
sought out a robber, to this day the devil practices his robberies upon
them. The name Barabbas signifies, The son of their master, ie. The devil;
Barabbas' master in his wickedness, and the Jews' master in their
perfidy." (Catena Aurea, Saint Mark 18:40)

"And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill him. [.]
Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot." (Saint Luke 22:2-3)

Saint Jerome: "In particular, this is the story of Judas; in general it is
of the Jews." (Homily)

"She has fallen, she has fallen, Babylon the great; and has become a
habitation of demons, a stronghold of every unclean spirit, a stronghold
of every unclean and hateful bird." (Apocalypse 18:2)

"And when an unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through dry
places seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith: I will return into my
house from whence I came out. And coming, he findeth it empty, swept
and garnished. Then he goeth and taketh seven other spirits more wicked
than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that
man is made worse than the first. So shall it be also to this generation."
(Saint Matthew 12:43-45)

Saint John Chrysostom: "Setting forth in a kind of riddle the punishment
that should fall upon the Jews, He says, When the unclean spirit has

Saint Cyril of Alexandria: "For that this example relates to the Jews,
Matthew has explained when he says, Even so shall it be also unto this
wicked generation. For all the time that they were living in Egypt in the
practice of the Egyptians, there dwelt in them an evil spirit." (Catena
Aurea, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Luke 11:24)

Saint Ambrose: "The comparison is then between one man and the whole
Jewish people, from whom through the law the unclean spirit had been
cast out. [.] The devil then returned to the Jewish people. Hence it
follows, And finding none, he saith, I will return to my house from whence
I came." (Catena Aurea, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Luke 11:24)

Origen: "That is, to those who are of Israel, whom he [the devil] saw
possessing nothing divine in them, but desolate, and vacant for him to
take up his abode there; and so it follows, And when he came, he found it
swept and garnished." (Catena Aurea, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Luke

Saint Ambrose: "And rightly did the unclean spirit return to her [Israel],
bringing with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself. [.] So
upon them falls the whole accumulated attack of the unclean spirits. For
the number seven is frequently taken to mean the whole." (Catena Aurea,

"And Jesus asked him, What is thy name? And he answered saying, My
name is Legion: for we are many. [.] And the unclean spirits went out,
and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place
into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the
sea." (Saint Mark 5:9, 12)

Saint John Chrysostom: "Since then ye would not hearken to me, but
have fallen into more heinous crime, (as it is greater wickedness to slay
Christ than to slay the Prophets,) therefore ye shall suffer more heavy
calamities. [.] Since they were destitute of every virtue, they were more
fit for the habitation of daemons than before." (Catena Aurea, Saint
Thomas Aquinas)

Saint Cyril of Alexandria: "And from what they afterward dared to do, it us
plain to see that the Jews have swallowed their vomit and turned again to
wallow in their ancient mire and relapsed into the errors of Egypt: for the
Evil Spirit has again entered into them, and their last state has become
worse than their first."

"For it had been better for them not to have known the way of
righteousness, than, after they had known it, to turn from the holy
commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them
according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again,
and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire [Proverbs
26:11]." (II Saint Peter 2:21-22)

Saint Jerome: "And the last state of that nation is worse than the first,
they are now possessed by a larger number of daemons in blaspheming
Jesus Christ in their synagogues, than they were possessed with in Egypt
before they had knowledge of the Law." (Catena Aurea, Saint Thomas

Saint John Chrysostom: "Certainly it is the time for me to show that
demons dwell in the synagogue, not only in the place itself but also in the
souls of the Jews. As Christ said: "When an unclean spirit is gone out
[.]". Do you see that demons dwell in their souls and that these demons
are more dangerous than the ones of old? And this is very reasonable. In
the old days the Jews acted impiously toward the prophets; now they
outrage the Master of the prophets. Tell me this. Do you not shudder to
come into the same place with men possessed, who have so many
unclean spirits, who have been reared amid slaughter and bloodshed?
Must you share a greeting with them and exchange a bare word? Must
you not turn away from them since they are the common disgrace and
infection of the whole world? Have they not come to every form of
wickedness? Have not all the prophets spent themselves making many
and long speeches of accusation against them? What tragedy, what
manner of lawlessness have they not eclipsed by their bloodguiltiness?
They sacrificed their own sons and daughters to demons." (First Homily
Against the Jews)

11. The Jewish curse of being the subjugated outcast is effected also
through their cursed perfidy.

So, the Jews are cursed to be perfidious and foul, and this inevitably
manifests in treacherous and base acts, whereby "they are adversaries to
all men", hostile to the well being and virtue of all, whom they seek to
victimize and corrupt. As their perfidy inevitably affects their dealings
with the nations, it should rationally inform the dealings that the nations
have with them; and that is the case as one looks through history: the
Jews have acted perfidiously toward the nations, and the nations have
acted rationally and justly, dutifully in order to defend themselves from
cursed Jewish perfidy. Hence their cursed perfidy effects their curse of
being subjugated outcasts through the instrumentality of the nations;
their perfidy at the crucifixion merited their perpetual subjugation, and
their cursed ongoing perfidy effects their ongoing subjugation. God uses
the nations to punish the Jews, through both their duty and their interest.

Thus the prophesy of King David is further fulfilled:

"They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me
vinegar to drink. Let their table be made unto them a snare, and a
recompense, and a stumbling block: let their eyes be darkened, that they
may not see, and bow down their back always." (Psalm 68:21-23)

Their "table", their cursed perfidious everyday dealings by which live, are
"a snare", even a means of their entrapment, their captivity,
subjugation: and thus it is "a recompense unto them", subjugative
punishment for their guilt.

Saint Hippolytus: "Listen with understanding, O Jew, to what the Christ
says: "They gave me gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me
vinegar to drink." And these things he did indeed endure from you. Hear
the Holy Ghost tell you also what return He made to you for that little
portion of vinegar. For the prophet says, as in the person of God, "Let
their table become a snare and retribution." Of what retribution does He
speak? Manifestly, of the misery which has now got hold of thee. [...]
Bend thou thy back for servitude always." (Against the Jews 5-6)

As we have seen, the deicidal Jews also have their curse in common with
fratricidal Cain: hence, a consideration of him provides illustration as to
the Jewish condition. Cain was subjected for his crime in a very
fundamental way, in being a known cursed outcast, guilty, perfidious,
whose treachery all were to beware of, who was to be feared and
detested - who would never be considered a normal citizen with normal
rights and privileges, but whose perfidy was ever to be kept in check by
vigilant and prudent social policy. "And the Lord set a mark upon Cain."
(Genesis 4:15) If he would kill his own innocent brother, who would he
not betray? Cain must be governed, subjugated; he must be subject to
prudent restraints on his perfidy. Similarly, the perfidy and foulness of
Jews cause the nations to vigilantly subject them; it is thereby just and
prudent social policy, as well as just punishment for their deicidal guilt.
Cain was able to avoid full actualised subjection, regulation, as he
entered the expanse of the then unpopulated earth; there was no one for
him to betray anyway. Adam had more important things to do, such as
the raising of Seth: as long as Cain was away from them where he could
do no harm, there was more pressing business; his subjection need not
go further than his expulsion. However, the earth is now populated: the
perfidious Jew must be in actuality, as well as in merit, subjugated.

It may be observed that the Jews' perfidy has indeed effected their
subjugation through history, as the nations sought to mitigate its dire
effect. Thereby their perfidious blasphemy of Christ has been

Pope Gregory IX: "We order all our brother bishops absolutely to
suppress the blasphemy of Jews in your dioceses, churches, and
communities, so that they do not dare raise their necks, bent under
eternal slavery, to revile the Redeemer."

Fourth Lateran Council (A. D. 1215): "They shall not appear in public at
all on the days of lamentation and on passion Sunday; because some of
them on such days, as we have heard, do not blush to parade in very
ornate dress and are not afraid to mock Christians who are presenting a
memorial of the most sacred passion and are displaying signs of grief.
What we most strictly forbid however, is that they dare in any way to break
out in derision of the Redeemer."

And the people have been protected from Jewish perfidy:

Fourth Lateran Council: "We therefore renew in this canon, on account of
the boldness of the offenders, what the Council of Toledo providently
decreed in this matter: we forbid Jews to be appointed to public offices,
since under cover of them they are very hostile to Christians."

King Alfonso X, the Wise, of Castile: "The emperors, who in former times
were lords of all the world, considered it fitting and right that, on
of the treason which they committed in killing their lord, they should lose
all said honors and privileges, so that no Jew could ever afterwards hold
an honorable position, or a public office by means of which he might, in
any way, oppress a Christian." (Las siete partidas)

Pope Clement VIII: "All the world suffers from the usury of the Jews, their
monopolies and deceit. They have brought many unfortunate people into
a state of poverty, especially the farmers, working class people and the
very poor. [.] Their ethical and moral doctrines as well as their deeds
rightly deserve to be exposed to criticism in whatever country they
happen to live."

Saint Thomas Aquinas: "The Jews should not be allowed to keep what
they have obtained from others by usury; it were best that they were
compelled to work so that they could earn their living instead of doing
nothing but becoming avaricious." (On the Governance of the Jews)

King Edward I: "The King hath seen that divers evils and the disinheriting
of good men of his land have happened by the usuries which the Jews
have made in time past, and that divers sins have followed thereupon."
(Statutum de Judeismo)

Fourth Lateran Council: "The more the Christian religion is restrained
from usurious practices, so much the more does the perfidy of the Jews
grow in these matters, so that within a short time they are exhausting the
resources of the Christians. Wishing therefore to see that Christians are
not savagely oppressed by Jews in this matter, we ordain by this synodal
decree that if Jews in the future, on any pretext, extort oppressive and
excessive interest from Christians, then they are to be removed from
contact with Christians until they have made adequate satisfaction for
the immoderate burden. Christians too, if need be, shall be compelled by
ecclesiastical censure, without the possibility of an appeal, to abstain
from commerce with them. We enjoin upon princes, not to be hostile to
Christians on this account, but rather to be zealous in restraining Jews
from so great oppression."

So, the cursed perfidy of the Jews effects their cursed subjugation,
through the instrumentality of the nations; we see in the last quote that
their subjugative segregation is also effected through their perfidy: "they
are to be removed from contact with Christians". And so it is that the
following aspect of the Cainite curse is fulfilled:

"And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth
to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand. When thou tillest the
ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and
a vagabond shalt thou be on the earth." (Genesis 4:11-12)

As when the Jews "till the ground", they do not labour and interact
socially in a normal honest manner, but are perfidious and foul usurers
and exploiters, betrayers, destroyers - accordingly the ground does not
"yield her strength" to them in the normal yielding manner in which a
society cooperates with the friendly, honest workman. Rather, through
their perfidious exploits, they agitate their neighbour and so become "a
fugitive and a vagabond upon the earth", being segregated and expelled.
Their perfidy has effected their segregation through history:

Pope Stephen III: "With great sorrow and mortal anxiety, We have heard
that the Jews have in a Christian land the same rights as Christians, that
Christian men and women live under the same roof with these traitors
and defile their souls day and night with blasphemies." (Epistle to the
Bishop of Norbonne)

Pope Alexander III (A. D. 1181): "Our ways of life and those of the Jews
are utterly different, and Jews will easily pervert the souls of simple folk
their superstition and unbelief if such folk are living in continual and
intimate intercourse with them." (Ad Haec).

Hence also the permanent public warning to avoid Jews, inscribed over
the gate to the Cemetery of the Holy Innocents in Paris: "Beware of a Jew,
a madman, and a leper." In many regions, all Jews were obliged to wear
distinctive dress or a yellow patch on their clothing, so that all would
recognize them and keep clear of their perfidy and infidelity; this practice
was extended to all Christian lands by Pope Innocent IV at the Fourth
Lateran Council.

King Alfonso X, the Wise, of Castile: "Many crimes and outrageous things
occur between Christians and Jews because they live together in cities,
and dress alike; and in order to avoid the offences and evils which take
place for this reason, We deem it proper, and we order that all Jews, male
and female, living In our dominions shall bear some distinguishing mark
upon their heads so that people may plainly recognize a Jew, or a Jewess;
and any Jew who does not bear such a mark, shall pay for each time he is
found without it ten maravedis of gold; and if he has not the means to do
this he shall receive ten lashes for his offence." (Las siete partidas)

"And the Lord set a mark upon Cain." (Genesis 4:15)

King Edward I of England: "All Jews shall dwell in the king's own cities
and boroughs where the chests of the chirographs of the Jews are wont to
be. Each Jew after he shall be seven years old, shall wear a badge on his
outer garment, that is to say in the form of two tables joined of yellow
of the length of six inches and of the breadth of three inches. [.] No
Christian for any cause may dwell among them." (Statutum de Judeismo)

Pope Eugene IV: "We decree and order that from now on, and for all time
[.] All and every single Jew, of whatever sex and age, must everywhere
wear the distinctive dress and known marks by which they can be
evidently distinguished from Christians."

"For nineteen centuries, it has been the Catholic Church's constant and
deliberate policy to keep leashed, muzzled, and set apart, that people
which she has universally taught is a cursed race - cursed for its
crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Throughout the Christian ages, the Popes, the
Saints, and all Catholics in civil authorities, have taken upon themselves,
as one of the necessary burdens of Catholic allegiance, the responsibility
of holding back the Jew - of keeping him well distinguished from the rest
of the community, with no opportunity to carry out the treacheries he was
planning against the Church of Christ." (The Point, February 1955)

And their perfidy and foulness have effected their expulsion through
history, "a fugitive and a vagabond upon the earth". The Apostle
indicated that it is correct to expel the perfidious Jews, while discussing
the Judaizers at Galatia:

"But as he then that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was
born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what says the
scripture? "Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the
bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman." So then
brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free."
(Galatians 4:29-31)

So it is according to type and prophesy: the elder brothers Cain, Ishmael,
and Joseph's brothers all entered into exile upon persecuting the
younger: so the Jews, too, who are ever murderous and exploitative
persecutors of the Church and everyone else.

"Let their habitation be desolate: and let none dwell in their tents."
(Psalm 68:26)

The Church has always understood and enacted that the Jew is to be
expelled, so that the nations may be justly protected from his treachery,
either as a preventative measure or when his perfidy is no longer

Pope Leo VII (A. D. 939): "Let the Gospel be preached unto them and, if
they remain obstinate, let them be expelled."

Pope Innocent IV: "We who long with all our hearts for the salvation of
souls, grant you full authority by these present letters to banish the Jews,
either in your own person or through the agency of others, especially
since, as we have been informed, they do not abide by the regulations
drawn up for them by this Holy See." (To the King of France; The Point,
February 1955)

"By 1550, there were no Jews lawfully resident in England, France,
Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, the Scandinavian countries or Russia."
(The Point, April 1956)

Pope Saint Pius V: "The Jewish people fell from the heights because of
their faithlessness and condemned their Redeemer to a shameful death.
Their godlessness has assumed such forms that, for the salvation of our
own people, it becomes necessary to prevent their disease. Besides
usury, through which Jews everywhere have sucked dry the property of
impoverished Christians, they are accomplices of thieves and robbers;
and the most damaging aspect of the matter is that they allure the
unsuspecting through magical incantations, superstition, and witchcraft
to the Synagogue of Satan and boast of being able to predict the future.
We have carefully investigated how this revolting sect abuses the name of
Christ and how harmful they are to those whose life is threatened by their
deceit. On account of these and other serious matters, and because of
the gravity of their crimes which increase day to day more and more, We
order that, within 90 days, all Jews in our entire earthly realm of
justice -
in all towns, districts, and places - must depart these regions." (The
Jewish Race)

The Jews were acting to the great detriment of the Christians
"everywhere", he says: "everywhere", like some kind of huge fat vampire
or monstrous leach they "sucked dry" the poor Christians, no less,
"those whose life is threatened by their deceit." "Jews everywhere" have
done this, he wrote: for perfidy is a character trait of the Jews as a
not just of this or that individual Jew but of all of them; they are given
to it as a curse. Jewish "deceit" and treachery were no longer bearable.

Maria Theresa, Queen of Hungary and Bohemia (A. D. 1789):
"Henceforth no Jew, no matter under what name, will be allowed to
remain here without my written permission. I know of no other
troublesome pest within the state than this race, which impoverishes the
people by their fraud, usury and money-lending and commits all deeds
which an honourable man despises. Subsequently they have to be
removed and excluded from here as much as possible."

"He who has not given his money to usury or received gifts against the
poor: he who has not done these things shall not be moved unto
eternity." (Psalm 14)

Expulsion appeared as the correct policy regarding the Jews repeatedly
through the centuries. I quote again from The Point, though I have added
formatting for clarity:

"Banishment of the Jews is a remedy which Catholic rulers have always
hesitated to use. Yet, at some time, and often more than once, every
Catholic state in Europe has been forced to ask all Jews within its borders
to leave. Here are a few examples:

- The Jews were expelled from Spain by order of the Spanish Bishops, in
the seventh century, and they were again expelled by the Spanish rulers,
Ferdinand and Isabella, in 1492.

- From France they were expelled in 1182, again in 1306, again in 1394
and again, from southern France in 1682.

- In accordance with a decree of Pope Leo VII, the Jews were exiled from
Germany in the tenth century; they were again expelled in the eleventh
century, and once again in the year 1349.

- They were made to leave Hungary twice: in 1360 and again in 1582.

- From England, they were expelled in the year 1290.

- From Belgium, in 1370.

- From Austria, in 1420 and again in 1570.

- From Lithuania, in 1495.

- From Portugal, in 1498.

- From Prussia, in 1510.

- From the kingdom of Naples, in 1540.

- From Bavaria, in 1551.

- From the Genoese Republic, in 1567.

- And from the Papal States, the Pope's personal domains, the Jews were
expelled in 1569 and, once again, in 1593." (The Point, February 1955)

That list is rather short, so we shall add another more extensive though
far from complete; the Jews were expelled in the following years from the
following areas, many of which were Catholic:

The Jew is forever cursed with the curse of Cain to be an outcast; as Saint
John Chrysostom once said about the permanence of the Church: "If you
do not believe the saying, believe the fact." There we see the
concordance of the Faith with reality. Their cursed perfidy has been too
much everywhere.

As slaves, they have no rights of residence or citizenship, but are the
property of the prince, to be used as is considered desirable and
appropriate, and to be expelled accordingly, wherein their slavery,
serfdom is lower than that of any other, as we have seen: they are abject.
Their presence in a land depends upon the sufferance and kindness of
the Church, and upon any benefits that may be derived from their
presence, such as their role as "witnesses", exhibiting the fate of those
who oppose God, and demonstrating the truth of the prophecies,
Scriptures and the Faith. They are the slave, Ham, carrying his brothers'
books, as we saw Saint Augustine say (Reply to Faustus the Manichaean
XIII:10); but they are also Cain, the perfidious murderer: and history has
demonstrated repeatedly that any benefits derived from the services of
Ham, tend to be outweighed by the deficits incurred due to the
disservices of Cain.

The expulsion of the Jews has often been the work of Saints, honoured by
the Church for their holy labours. Saint Thomas of Hereford (A. D. 1282)
brought about their expulsion from England; Saint Henry II, (A. D. 1014)
King of Germany and Holy Roman Emperor expelled them from his realm;
and Saint Louis IX, (A. D. 1270) King of France from his; as far back as
the Fifth Century, Saint Cyril bishop of Alexandria (A. D. 440), Doctor, had
them removed from his city. And as we have seen, Pope Saint Pius V
expelled them from the papal realms. Indeed, the expulsion of the
perfidious Jews is part of our holy imitation of Christ:

"And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
and found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and
the changers of money sitting. And when he had made a whip of small
cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen;
and he poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables. And
he said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence, and make
not my Fathers house a house of business." (Saint John 2:13-6)

Of course, some civil rulers also had interests other than the spiritual,
and the Jews were sometimes tolerated because it was considered that
there were sometimes material gains, of sorts, to be had by the rulers
from their presence: from their cut of the Jews' usury or other bribes
received to allow the Jews to continue their parasitical work; but these
were so evidently outweighed that even rulers of such a low moral
standard were obliged to take action, if only to stop civil unrest from the
afflicted citizenry, especially the poor.

They were only let back into England in A. D. 1655, three and a half
centuries after their expulsion on All Saints Day, after the folly of the
Protestant revolt they perfidiously helped to start, and the civil war, in
which they financed the rising merchant class:

"The city of London was aroused in 1271 to prohibit Jews from acquiring
any more property there. [...] The year 1275 opened with the Jews being
expelled from Marlborough, Gloucester, Worchester and Cambridge. [...]
Archbishop Peckham of London, a city growing acutely uncomfortable for
the Jews, gave orders in 1283 that all the synagogues in his diocese must
be closed. [...] In November of 1286, Pope Honorius IV wrote to the
English Archbishops of Canterbury and York, calling the Talmud "that
damnable book" and urging them "vehemently to see that it be not read
by anyone, since all evils flow from it." A few months later, in May of
1287, King Edward I had the Jews of England thrown into prison. And
finally, on November 1, 1290, Edward ordered all Jews to be deported
from the country - to which they were not allowed to return till the time of
the Protestant Cromwell." (The Point, February, 1957)

It was also only due to Protestant influence that they were also admitted
to Ireland, from which they were also banned in A. D. 1290. I propose
that traditional British Catholics keep a novena of prayer of celebration
and thanksgiving during the week leading up to November 1st, in joyful
commemoration of the expulsion of the Jews from England for centuries
which started on that date; we can then also beg God that they might be
expelled again. Catholics from other lands may do this on the date the
Jews were expelled from their lands. Perhaps we could even construct a
novena calendar for the year, keeping intercessory observances of all the
expulsions of the Jews: that way, we can be sure to regularly plead with
God for such a necessary blessing. As it is revealed in the Bible that the
mass of the Jews will not truly convert until the end times, it is much more
practical, and theologically correct, to pray for their expulsion than for
their conversion.

The Jews remained expelled from some apostate lands later than from
England: "Jews were banned from Sweden until 1782, were not allowed
in Denmark before the 1600's, and were not allowed to enter Norway

perfidy is manifest, it can be observed (even if it is not usually noted) by
non-Catholics; hence it is that those who are labelled "right wing" or now
often slandered by the deceiving Zionist Jews as "anti-semites", are
often Judaeo-realists, able to formulate basically correct policies
regarding them, even if they are not able to account for Jewish perfidy
properly such as the generic perfidy of converts thereto from other races.

Only the Jew's conversion to the Faith can truly effect his reform from his
cursed perfidy. And even then - like how concupiscence and weakness
remain in the regenerate even after baptism - perfidy remains a tendency
within the Jew, which he must strive to overcome through grace. The
Jewish "converts" I have known have all been observably perfidious; ask
them about the Talmud they used to read, and you will see where their
loyalties lie. And what with completely pretended conversions as well,
one should be scrupulously careful in ever trusting even an apparently
"Catholic" Jew; whilst one should never trust a non-Catholic Jew; this
perfidious Jewish deception has always been well-known by the Church;
hence, the seventh Ecumenical Council decreed the following for the
whole Church, while also allowing for the sincere to be converted:

Council Nice II (A. D. 787): "Since certain, erring in the superstitions of
the Hebrews, have thought to mock at Christ our God, and feigning to be
converted to the religion of Christ do deny him, and in private and
secretly keep the Sabbath and observe other Jewish customs, we decree
that such persons be not received to communion, nor to prayers, nor into
the Church; but let them be openly Hebrew according to their religion,
and let them not bring their children to baptism, nor purchase or possess
a slave."

"Marranos", ie. "swine", as false Jewish "converts" are known, have
often been a terrible problem for the Church; indeed that is why the Holy
Inquisition had to be founded in Spain; it is also why the Jesuit order
providently decreed that Jewish lineage was to be considered an
impediment to joining its ranks:

"In a short time, as the young Jesuit organization became a power for
Catholic reform and propaganda, Jews were attracted to it, as they are
always attracted to centers of influence, in such numbers that it was
found difficult to keep out those who wished to destroy the order and the
Church under pretext of working for them. Thus a nephew of the great and
Catholic Jew Polanco followed him into the society, and caused such
difficulties and dissensions that for years he nearly drove his superiors to
despair." (Philip II, William Thomas Walsh)

It is typical Jewish perfidy to betray even with their deceptive kiss while
pretending to be trusted friends, as they are given up to the perfidy of
Judas (Saint Matthew 26:49-50). I propose that in view of their cursed
perfidy, it is only prudent, even urgent, that Jews not be allowed to occupy
any position of influence within the Church, or in society: they should be
excluded from the episcopacy, the priesthood, religious orders, the
diaconate, Church media and diplomacy, policy formulation, the running
of catechism classes, altar serving and even parish choirs. It is justice
and charity that Catholics have a Church that is not subverted or
weakened by Jewish perfidy and degeneracy. Jews can be saints, but
many more will not be (the Church has canonize but one Jewish convert
since her early days); and the Church must exercise great prudence where
the glory of God and the salvation of souls are concerned. She must not
allow herself to swayed by the weakness of a false sentimentality, or a
misguided and sinful "humanitarianism".

12. The necessary and urgent struggle of the Church against the Jew.

So we have established: that the Jews are cursed with the guilt of deicide,
and that they merit to be subjugated, regulated, segregated, excluded
and expelled; that the Church and the nations have a duty to enact that
subjugation; and that the Jews are also cursed with a perfidy which
effects their subjugation, whereby the Church and the nations have an
additional interest and duty to enact proper policy toward them.
Subjugation of the Jews is the theologically, morally and politically
correct, rational social policy; that is the Church's perennial "social
teaching". She used her influence to subject the Jews as they deserve,
and the nations were protected from their perfidy, although we do not say
that she could not do better. She has the duty to inform and guide the
nations about the Jews; and the nations have a duty and need to obey her
just commands. God has established her as Mistress of the nations.

But today, Cain is out of control, without proper subjugation and
segregation: rational social policy is not being enacted with regard to the
Jews, and they are roaming free to betray and destroy. That is because
the insight necessary for such policy is no longer being communicated,
accepted and acted upon: the Church has had her position in society
weakened by rebellious apostasy, and so many of the once loyal Catholic
nations will not now listen to their watchful Mother. And her placeholders
no longer seem to know Catholic teaching anyway; indeed, it seems likely
that Jews have been allowed to infiltrate even the Church. And so this
knowledge - that the Jews are cursed with the curse of Cain for their
perfidious murder of Christ - is passing from common understanding.
Without the clear, sure, revealed teaching of Holy Church to guide them,
the governments of the nations are not aware of the traitor in their midst,
and they are not acting toward him as they ought to; such is the fruit of

How are we to understand this theologically? Although the Jew merited,
and is so cursed, to be forever subjugated, that is not to say that his
subjugation will be completely enacted at all times. The Church and the
nations have a duty and an interest to effect his complete subjugation, as
we have seen; but the Jew resists. And when we are neglectful, his perfidy
may be temporarily liberated: this is the proper sort of mea culpa. Thus,
there is a struggle between the dutiful Church and the perfidious Jew. We
may see a type of this in the blessings of Jacob and Esau. The Jews are to
be subject to the Christians and the nations, as we have seen; but it is
indicated in Esau's blessing that he may temporarily break loose:

"And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father?
bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice and
wept. [...] And by the sword shalt thou live, and thou shalt serve thy
brother; and it shall come to pass thou shalt break his yoke from off thy
neck." (Genesis 27:38, 40)

The Jew has sometimes during the centuries managed to temporary
"break his yoke". For instance, when the treacherous Jews in Spain were
particularly upset by Christian kings who had inhibited their trading in
and possession of Christian slaves, and who had tried to convert them:

"The Jews of Africa, who at various times had emigrated thither from
Spain, and their unlucky co-religionists of the Peninsula, made common
cause with the Mahometan conqueror, Tarik, who brought over from
Africa into Andalusia an army eager for the fray. After the battle of Xeres
(July, 711 A. D.), and the death of Frederic, the last of the Visigothic
kings, the victorious Arabs pushed onward, and were everywhere
supported by the Jews. In every city that they conquered, the Moslem
generals were able to leave but a small garrison of their own troops, as
they had need of every man for the subjection of the country; they
therefore confided them to the safekeeping of the Jews. In this manner
the Jews, who but lately had been serfs, now became the masters of the
towns of Cordova, Granada, Malaga, and many others." (History of the
Jews, Professor Graetz, Vol. III, p. 109)

Many died because of this Jewish perfidy; our Spanish brothers and
sisters eventually drove out the barbarous infidel some centuries later
and expelled the Jew; but such things can periodically happen. And when
they do, things bode very badly for the Christian and gentile peoples.

As the perfidious Jew inevitably resists his just subjugation, the dutiful
Church must ever constantly struggle to subjugate him. Such mastery is
her destiny which she must ever strive to fulfil: "And the children
struggled together within her." (Genesis 25:22)

Saint Irenaeus: "Binding the feet, but not being bound; striving and
conquering; grasping in his hand his adversaries heel, that is, victory. For
to this end was the Lord born, the type of whose birth he set forth
beforehand, of whom also John says in the Apocalypse: "he went forth
conquering that he should conquer."" (Against the Heresies IV:21)

Hence, the Jew is the Church's perpetual "enemy", as we have seen
Saint Augustine and others repeatedly say. Padre Pio (A. D. 1968), the
first priest ever to bear the miraculous stigmata of Christ's wounds, put
it: "The Jews are enemies of God and foes of our Holy Religion." As we
have seen, he is a deadly enemy, but the essentially treacherous, cruel
Jewish character often does not manifest directly as murderous; often, as
we have already seen, it appears as ruthless and callous exploitation of
the innocent, whether it be by usury or otherwise. We shall not do more
than merely mention the current debt-ridden plight of the Third World and
of First World governments, all of which are indebted to the international
financiers (while we do not say that only Jews are responsible for this, we
think it unlikely that they are without a large share therein). An
semi-Jewish, usurious, financial and money-grubbing quasi-civilization is
established globally.

"She has fallen, she has fallen, Babylon the Great. [.] All the nations
have drunk of the wrath of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have
committed fornication with her, and by the power of her wantonness
[usury] the merchants of the earth have grown rich. [.] For [her]
merchants were the great men of the earth, for all nations have been
deceived by [her] enchantments." (Apocalypse 18:2, 3, 23)

We see the looming construction of the "New (Jew) World Order"
effected through "One World Government" and Jewish control of the
media, Jewish control and occupation of governments, and with the help
of international finance and multinational companies. Reliving Good
Friday, they attempt to again become the "rulers of the people", and to
use the rulers and the civil servants of the nations in their treacherous
plots, like they used Herod, Pilate and the Roman soldiers. And like the
carnal Jews then, they seek an earthly kingdom; their backs bent down,
they see and desire only base and earthly things, being blinded to the
spiritual and moral.

According to their Talmud, "the goyim", all non-Jews, are soulless cattle
created to serve the Jews, and whom he has an historical destiny to
conquer and subject in world domination; and this he seeks to make
them, stripping them of their religion, their cultural decency, their race
and nationhood, their political sovereignty and economic independence:
the helpless, pliable herd of the Jew World Order. As the workers of the
anti-Christ, they naturally seek to mockingly reverse justice into
subjecting the nations to the cursed Jewish condition and usurping
gentile blessings for themselves. It has always been understood that the
Jews are guilty murderers who are forever persecuting the innocent with
their perfidy; but with their control of the media and endless cries of
"anti-semitism", and their ridiculous stories of a blasphemously named
"holocaust", they have falsified reality to the extent that many dupes
now think that the Christians are the guilty murderers who have always
persecuted the Jews. Christians took necessary and dutiful action against
a scheming traitor, an ever-perfidious foe. Again, Jewish deceit and
slander is a weapon they constantly employ in their attack on Christ, the
Church and the nations.

Thus we see the urgency of the perpetual struggle of the Church and the
nations against the Jews: if a Biblical subjugation of the Jews is not
effected, then a Talmudic anti-Christian "New World Order" will be. If the
Jew is not subjugated, then the nations will be enslaved; and then the evil
one may make his final appearance in a full blown apocalyptic epoch,
long predicted. Either the Church will provide the necessary conditions
for the spiritual and cultural development of the nations, or the Jew will
under develop them. What they were stopped from doing to Christians by
the popes and Catholic rulers of the Middle Ages, they are now free to do.
They wish the universal prerogative of the Church, but with a carnal
intent. They have lost the Kingdom of God and seek the dominion of the
devil. The cross they raise will ever be their own ruin. It is nigh and
amongst them.

The solution to these problems is simple in essence, as we have seen: the
people must again learn to fear Cain, and he must be justly subjugated,
segregated and expelled in accordance with his cursed perfidy. In other
words, we all need to be realistic as to who the Jews are, and then we can
enact rational social policy in their regard: and we can eradicate their
influence from the Church and from our civilization. They should be
removed from the area they have blasphemously ill-named "Israel" and
"scattered" into several ghettos where they may be gathered,
demilitarised and subjugated by international law, to protect the nations,
being a form of segregation, expulsion and of scattering; they can
perhaps be aptly named variously "Judas", "Cain", "Ishmael", "Esau",
"Ham" and even "Haman"; and they can also be named "Sodom and
Egypt" and "a name written - a mystery - Babylon the great, the mother
of the harlotries and of the abominations of the earth" (Apocalypse). Yes;
and other of their ghettoes can be named "brood of vipers", and "whited
sepulchers, full of dead men's bones and of all filthiness", and "within
full of extortion and excess" (Saint Matthew 23); and "the synagogue of
Satan" (Apocalypse). That should leave map-readers in no doubt as to
their content.

It is obviously not the will of God that they remain in Palestine, and it is
inevitable that they will be removed from there:

"They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The
border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the Lord hath
indignation forever. And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The Lord
will be magnified from the border of Israel." (Malachi 1:2-4)

Socrates (fifth century): "The Emperor Julian sent for the Jews and
enquired of them why they abstained from sacrificing, since the law of
Moses enjoined it. [.] He immediately ordered them to rebuild
Solomon's temple. [.] A mighty earthquake tore up the stones of the old
foundations of the temple and dispersed them all together with the
adjacent edifices. Terror consequently possessed the Jews. [.] Fire came
down from Heaven and consumed all the builders' tools [.] and the fire
continued burning among these for a whole day. [.] Even a third miracle
which afterward happened failed to lead them to a belief of the truth. The
next night luminous impressions of a cross appeared imprinted on the
Jews' garments, which at daybreak they in vain attempted to rub or wash
out. [.] And thus was the temple, instead of being rebuilt, at that time
wholly overthrown." (Ecclesiastical History III:20)

Indeed, in the end days, there will be a recapitulation, a repetition, of
destruction of Jerusalem, as we see in the Apocalypse (written about 96
A. D.), which clearly narrates its destruction in 70 A. D. in a prophetic

"The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto
his servants things which must shortly come to pass." (Apocalypse 1:1)

In their ghettos they can fend (or not) for themselves, with no assistance
from, or commerce with us, once they have been established, and
hopefully there will not be too many of them; indeed, the Council of Paris
ruled in 1212 that no Christian midwife was to help a Jew in childbirth
(The Point, February, 1957); there, they can betray each other with such
regulation and constraint as they see fit to enact; and we can further
subject them by punishing them should they ever attempt to revile the
Redeemer or His Church; and we can perhaps exact forced labour from
them too, so that they fulfil their role as cursed slaves; though the Church
can clarify exactly what is to be done. The false marranos must go too:
their being allowed to remain after previous expulsions has been to the
great detriment of Catholic nations; this policy must be enacted or the
anti-gentile perfidy will never stop. Converts can be separated in convert-
ghettos. When sanity and order have been re-established, we may
perhaps let a small number of them again "wander" from their ghettoes
(under the strictest observation and regulation) as "witnesses", that they
might exhibit to all, the accursed fate of the enemies of God and His
Church: but we must all learn from the present catastrophe, and take
prudent measures to ensure that it never happens again; after all, God
said, "Do not wipe them out"; He did not say, "let millions of them infest
all lands"; they are not the same; ghettoes would be nothing new.

It is, generally speaking, for the Church and the princes who ought to be
loyal to her, to decide when any benefits derived from their cursed
"witness" are outweighed by their perfidy, and when the Jew should go;
but in the present temporal situation, with so little benefited from their
"witness", and so much suffered from their perfidy, it is surely obviously
time for them to go, whether we explicitly get the open signal from our
presently beleaguered Church and receive cooperation from our
subverted, Judaised, "governments" or not: it is our duty and our right,
and our great need, so that we might reconstruct civilization and the
orthodoxy of the Church hierarchy and its mission, to the greater glory of

Further, the Third World must be relieved and all usurious debt must be
cancelled. The Jews are to be excluded from any financial doings with the
world. "American" governmental aid to the Occupational Government of
Palestine ($77 billion by A. D. 2000) must cease, and the Palestinians
must be protected. Of course, ultimately we work and pray for a return of
the nations to the Faith and obedience of the Church, without which there
is no salvation for any individual, nor health for a nation; indeed the
Church's policy toward other infidels often resembled that toward the
Jews, though the reason was not entirely the same. And we hope and pray
that many Jews will reach for blessing by conversion to Christ. In the
meantime, we may look to cooperate with other gentiles seeking to
lessen and neutralize Jewish ill influence, in this, our common struggle.
The battle is truly urgent and long neglected, and there is now no
guarantee that we will win it this side of an apocalyptic divine
intervention, as things have been left to go so far. We must be ready to
fight valiantly with both spiritual and societal means. Outside the Church,
there is no salvation.


And they asked Caine the old Father, "Why do you command us
not to Embrace those we love?" And Caine said to them, "Love
is the sweet rain which falls from the One Above. Love is the
gift of life. Remember ye not Auriel's Curse? That we are to
eat only ashes, drink only blood?  Blood is not sweet rain.
Our drink takes Life." And then Caine's eyes got the look of
Visions "But if ever one of us is gifted with love of a mortal
without Command or Awe, without compulsion a Love given freely,
then that Love will be as the gentle rain to even the lowliest
of us. And though we shall not Embrace it, it will feed us as
if we supped at our Father's table it will satisfy our deepest
thirst. But harken ye, my children! The Children of Seth will
always hate us, for we are their predators, we are their Masters
and they know this, deep in their soul. Look not for Love among
them! They will not give it. Be not a fool."
